We are looking for team members who share the love for the mountains and who are passionate about hospitality. This person needs to carry a friendly smile and the helpful attitude our guests deserve.

Full-time and part-time seasonal opportunities are now available for the 2018-19 winter Season.  We open part-time on November 21, 2018, and go full-time on December 14, 2018.  We close on March 24, 2019.

The following positions are currently available:

  • Cafeteria Staff

    Food and Beverage
    Red River, New Mexico
    unknown / hour + tips

    Cafeteria Staff positions are available at the Main Chalet Cafeteria and the Ski Tip Restaurant. The candidate must be dependable and enjoy working in a team environment. Daily duties include food preparation, cooking, stocking, and cleaning.  F&B employees receive a shift meal when working.  Full-time employees receive a free winter season pass and discounts.  This position starts mid-November 2018.

    Essential duties and responsibilities

    • Carries supplies from refrigerators and storerooms to work areas.
    • Removes pans of portioned salads, desserts, rolls, cream, and other cold food items from refrigerator or pantry, and places at appropriate stations of assembly counter.
    • Cleans, cuts and mixes vegetables, fruits, and berries for salads, relishes, and desserts.
    • Prepares cold sandwiches.
    • Prepares daily specials.
    • Portions and garnishes hot cooked foods, such as meat and vegetables, into individual serving dishes.
    • Stocks salad bar and lunch buffet line throughout the day.
    • Services soda/coffee dispensers.
    • Keep condiments, snacks and coolers stocked.
    • Takes orders, explain menu items and serves customers.
    • Cleans and washes pots and pans, dishes, chopping blocks, and service stations throughout the day as necessary.
    • Stocks serving stations with dishes.
    • Arranges boxes, material or other industrial equipment in a neat and orderly manner.
    • Defrosts and cleans refrigerators and iceboxes.
    • Maintain kitchen and work area clean and organized.
    • Keep all guest areas spotless and in order.
    • Learn the proper and safe use of cleaning products.

    Other duties and responsibilities

    • Execute proper cleaning and stocking of restrooms throughout the day.
    • Work as cashier collecting payment for products and using our software to register sales.
    • Sells alcoholic beverages in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations governing alcohol sales.
    • Checks I.D. of persons wanting to purchase alcoholic beverages.
    • Keep nice and neat appearance, keep uniform clean and have good personal hygiene.
    • Willingly perform any task outside the normal job parameters that are assigned which may be required to help the Food Services Department or Red River Ski Area as a whole meet required goals or standards.

     

    Qualifications

    • Must be dependable and punctual with daily scheduling.
    • Demonstrate good guest and employee relation skills: an ability to be pleasant, courteous and actively friendly with everyone.
    • Ability to multitask in a fast paced environment.
    • Ability to understand and respond quickly to instructions.
    • Understand the importance of personal hygiene and proper sanitation.
    • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.

    Work Environment

    • Employees regularly work near moving mechanical parts, sharp kitchen utensils, and hot stove/fryer/oven.
    • The employee is frequently exposed to food smells.
    • Heavy lifting up to 50lbs.
    • Employees are often exposed to chemicals and other cleaning products.
    • May be required to stand long period of time.
    • Employees may be required to work holidays and weekends.

    Education and/or experience

    • High School Graduate or GED.
    • Servers training from NM Alcohol and Gaming division (for servers at the TIP).  Can get this after employment starts.

  • Lift Operator / Ticket Checker

    Lifts
    Red River, New Mexico
    $8.50 / hour

    A .50 cents per hour bonus is given for every hour worked if the employee stays until the end of the season.   

    Lift Operator/Ticket Checker positions are now being hired for the winter season.  

     

    Essential duties and responsibilities

    • Operate assigned equipment in a safe, competent and knowledgeable manner.
    • Conduct all pre-operation safety checks.
    • Responsible for the safe start-up, operation, and shutdown of electric or auxiliary operation.
    • Maintain loading areas, unloading areas, mazes, dampers, and ramps, and lift logs to prescribed standards.
    • Instruct guests on safety procedures.
    • Execute the safe, courteous and efficient loading and unloading of passengers.
    • Command an alert, conscientious and reactive ability while operating the chairlift.
    • Observe skiers boarding lift to ensure they are safely seated and safety bars are secure.
    • Inspect, record and report the condition of all lift machinery.
    • Maintain an informed status of lift openings and closures and general operating conditions.
    • Create an open communication with the guest and fellow workers.
    • Diplomatically handles awkward or negative situations.
    • Responsible for checking all season passes and all lift tickets for authenticity.
    • Refuse admittance to patrons without ticket or pass, or who are undesirable for reasons such as intoxication or improper attire.
    • Keep the area clean of trash and maintained for snow conditions.
    • Must occasionally lift and/or move heavy weight up to 100 pounds.

     

    Other duties and responsibilities

    • Direct drivers where to park vehicles.
    • Patrol parking area to prevent thefts from parked vehicles.
    • Assist with Lift evacuations.
    • Provide assistance to Lift Maintenance.
    • May be requested to work extra hours with little or no notice.
    • Keep nice and neat appearance, keep uniform clean and have good personal hygiene.
    • Willingly perform any task outside the normal job parameters that are assigned which may be required to help the Lift Department or Red River Ski & Summer Area to meet required goals or standards.

     

    Qualifications

    • Must be dependable and punctual with daily scheduling.
    • Demonstrate good guest and employee relation skills: the ability to be pleasant, courteous and actively friendly to everyone.
    • Ability to identify and accommodate shifting priorities with little or no notice.
    • Ability to perform strenuous physical activities for extended periods of time.
    • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
    • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.

     

    Work Environment

    • Working outdoors in cold weather, standing for long periods of time.

  • Retail and Ticket Sales

    Retail and Ticket Sales positions are now being hired for the winter season.  Applicants must enjoy interacting with guests in a fast-paced environment. Ticket Sales Agents are responsible for the sales of Chairlift tickets, Mountain Tubing tickets, Pioneer Flyer tickets, retail sales and other products may be added.  

    Essential duties and responsibilities

    • Instruct guests on how to use Self Entry stations.
    • Enter products into the system using our sales software to quote prices and charge customers.
    • Collect payment, give change, collect signed credit card receipts.
    • Explain the receipts and describe features of an item purchased.
    • Verify cash drawer at the beginning of the shift and inform supervisor immediately of any discrepancy.
    • Count cash at the end of the shift filling out a cash drawer report stating the daily total.
    • Maintain work area to be clean and organized.
    • Cheerfully provide direction or information about the mountain and services.
    • Willingly perform any task outside the normal job parameters that are assigned which may be required to help the Ticket Sales Department or Red River Ski Area.

  • Rental Shop Technician

    Rental Shop
    Red River, New Mexico

    Working as a Rental Tech is a fun and unique opportunity to share your love for snowsports with guests and RRSA employees. You will have the opportunity to take initiative each and every day to make a positive, meaningful impact on our guest's experience.   Plus, our rental team seems to have some of the most fun on the mountain, all while expanding their knowledge of the sport and the mountain, and making new ski and ride friends. 

    Positions in the Rental Shop include Boot Tech, Ski/Snowboard Tech, and Ski Storage.  Full-time positions receive a complimentary season pass while employed. - Must be able to work weekends and holidays. 

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Use software to assign boots to customers.
    • Have customers read the Equipment Rental Release of Liability.
    • Collect customer’s signature using the signature pads.
    • Ask customer shoe size or measure customer's foot.
    • Help the customer try on footwear, observes and questions the customer about fit.
    • Organize boots, keeping them clean and dry.
    • Use the tech station software to check equipment out.
    • Set bindings to accept skier’s boots using manufacturers recommended settings.
    • Inspect rental equipment in stock to detect those requiring repair or cleaning.
    • Repair worn or damaged rental equipment.
    • Inspect returned equipment for damage.
    • Check equipment in using the tech station software and charge customers with overdue equipment.
    • Run the storage sales point to upgrade ski equipment, rent helmets, bibs, jackets, lockers and storage bins.
    • Verifies amount in the cash drawer at start and end of the shift.
    • Records sales on sales software, charging customers correctly for the items purchased.
    • Collect signed release for Helmet rental.
    • Collect payment for overdue equipment.
    • Receives patron's clothing filled container or ski equipment, furnishes claim check, places the container on storage shelf or rack, and returns container upon receipt of claim check.

    Other duties and responsibilities

    • Arranges boxes, material, and equipment in a neat and orderly manner.
    • Maintain rental shop organized and clean, including guest circulation areas and work areas.
    • Assists customers in the operation of lockers.
    • Willingly perform any task outside the normal job parameters that are assigned which may be required to help the Rental Department or Red River Ski Area as a whole meet required goals or standards.

     

    Qualifications

    • Must be dependable and punctual with daily scheduling.

    Ski/Snowboard Coach’s Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):

    • Provide a safe and fun learning environment through exceptional class handling and creativity using our teaching handbook as a guide. Upholding the highest levels of guest safety on varied terrain in high altitude, with varying winter weather conditions.
    • Clearly and accurately instructing assigned levels of skiing or snowboarding to students, both physically and verbally.
    • Instructs group and private lessons of varying ability levels, age, sex and learning ability, as assigned.
    • Willingly perform any task outside the normal job parameters that are assigned which may be required to help the Ski School Departments or Red River Ski Area meet required goals or standards.
    • Serves as a public relations representative for the Red River Ski & Summer Area, both on and off the job.

  • Ski Patroller

    Mountain Safety

    • Educate guests in safety while promoting the New Mexico Ski Safety Act.
    • Erect and maintain mountain signage, closed areas, ropes, and markings. 
    • Correct any obstacles or safety issues ongoing throughout the day.
    • Monitor trails for fast or reckless skiers and warns them of the risks of injury to themselves and others if deemed necessary.
    • Close or maintain sections of the mountain due to weather, slope conditions or special events.
    • Stop violators from skiing closed areas. 
    • Assist or guide anyone who is having trouble.
    • Perform sweeps of all main trails throughout the day and closing.
    • Attend classroom sessions and field exercises of Avalanche training and rescue procedures.
    • Perform any avalanche rescue or avalanche reduction. 
    • Administer care and transport injured parties to the Ultimed Clinic
    • Participate in any rescue or searches within our ski area boundary and help to locate or repairing lost or stolen equipment.
    • Attend classroom sessions and field exercises of the evacuation procedures for all lifts.
    • Evacuate any lift if necessary.

    Incident Reporting

    • All incidents will be reported on the appropriate forms.  They must be legible and completed in a timely manner.
    • Any incident involving an RRSA employee while at work must be reported immediately to the department supervisor and forms must be submitted to Ana Haydon for Worker’s Compensation.
    • All red-flag incidents must be reported to the Ski Patrol Director immediately.

    Mountain Maintenance

    • It is the RRSP responsibility to assist in all areas of mountain maintenance.  Ski packing, side slipping, grooming scars, snowmaking issues and any cleanup.  Also, any issues deemed necessary by Red River Ski Area Management.

    Equipment Maintenance

    • It is the responsibility of the RRSP to maintain all equipment in good condition.  All patrol equipment will be checked and maintained daily.

    Work Environment

    • Regularly work with machinery and moving mechanical parts and tools.
    • Work indoors and outdoors in all types of weather and environmental conditions. 
    • Lifting heavy weight, standing, climbing, and skiing will be required on a daily basis under any weather condition
    • Employees may be required to work holidays and weekends

    Qualification

    • Demonstrate good guest and employee relation skills: the ability to be pleasant, courteous and actively friendly with everyone.
    • The job requires a high level of physical conditioning, endurance, and strength. 
    • Ability to perform strenuous physical activities for extended periods of time.
    • Ability to read and interpret documents used by the RRSP and RRSA.
    • Ability to reason and deal with emergency situations performing under high stress.
    • Must be able to ski at an intermediate level.
    • Must be able to ski well enough and have the judgment to handle themselves and a sled under all mountain conditions.
    • Valid NSP Outdoor Emergency Care card or its equivalent. 
    • CPR training
    • APP/NSP- The members of the RRSP will involve itself with both professional organizations to further education in all areas of mountain operations and industry standards.
