BUILDING MAINTENANCE LABORER

Schedule: Varied shifts, including weekends and holidays

Not All Mountain Heroes Wear Skis

Some carry tools, shovel snow, repair buildings, solve problems, and keep everything standing strong behind the scenes.

As a Building Maintenance Laborer at Red Lodge Mountain, you will help care for the buildings and spaces that make a great mountain day possible. One day you may be assisting with a repair, the next you may be clearing snow, supporting a maintenance project, or helping another department solve an unexpected problem.

This is the perfect role for someone who enjoys working with their hands, likes variety, takes pride in visible results, and does not want to spend every day behind a desk.

Your Daily Mission

  • Assist with repairs, preventative maintenance, and general upkeep throughout Red Lodge Mountain properties.

  • Help maintain base-area and mountain buildings so they remain safe, functional, and welcoming.

  • Support basic construction and maintenance projects.

  • Complete light janitorial and facility-cleaning duties when needed.

  • Assist with snow and ice removal using shovels, snow scoops, snow blowers, and other equipment.

  • Help manage garbage, recycling, and waste-removal programs.

  • Safely operate tools, vehicles, and equipment after receiving proper training.

  • Communicate clearly with coworkers, supervisors, managers, and other departments.

  • Use telephones and two-way radios to coordinate work and respond to facility needs.

  • Jump in when unexpected projects arise because the mountain always keeps things interesting.

What You Bring

  • General maintenance, repair, or construction skills.

  • Ability to ski or snowboard from Mid-Mountain at end of shift. 

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • The ability to interact professionally with guests, coworkers, supervisors, and managers.

  • A self-motivated, efficient, and dependable work style.

  • The ability to follow instructions and complete work safely.

  • Availability to work a varied schedule, including weekends, holidays, and snow days.

  • A willingness to help wherever the Facilities team needs you most.

Experience That Will Help You Succeed

The following experience is preferred, but not required:

  • Previous construction, building maintenance, repair, or facilities experience.

  • Experience safely using hand tools, power tools, or snow-removal equipment.

  • Experience working with the public or in a guest-facing environment.

  • Knowledge of ski-area, resort, hospitality, or outdoor recreation operations.

The Real Talk

This is an active, hands-on position in a mountain environment. Some days will be cold. Some projects will be physical. Snow will not remove itself, and buildings occasionally choose the busiest possible moment to need attention.

You must be able to:

  • Stand or walk for 90% or more of a typical eight-hour shift.

  • Lift, carry, push, or move 50 pounds or more.

  • Bend, stoop, reach, shovel, and complete repetitive physical tasks.

  • Walk and work safely on uneven ground, snow, and ice.

  • Use tools and equipment safely and responsibly.

  • Work outdoors in extreme cold, wind, snow, and wet conditions.

  • Work around moving mechanical parts and active mountain operations.

  • Remain aware of changing terrain, weather, and workplace hazards.

  • Construction and maintenance tools
