Job Title:   Midway/Main Lodge Counter Server                     

Reports to: Food & Beverage Manager                                                                  

Wage: DOE(wages + tips, if applicable, will not fall below Montana minimum wage)

Job Summary: Serves cafeteria-style food items at Midway Lodge or Main Lodge. Provides excellent customer service, maintains a clean and organized service line, and supports kitchen and dining operations.

Essential Job Responsibilities/Duties/Tasks include the following: other duties may be assigned:

  • Provide efficient, friendly, and professional customer service.
  • Serve food items cafeteria-style to guests.
  • Maintain and clean appliances and service line equipment.
  • Perform prep work before opening.
  • Clean and restock kitchen, serving, and dining areas.
  • Assist with basic food handling, stocking, and guest service tasks.

Required:

  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with guests, co-workers, and supervisors.
  • Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work varied schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to ski or snowboard to access Midway Lodge, if scheduled there.

Preferred:

  • Prior food service or hospitality experience (entry-level friendly; training provided).
  • Knowledge of the ski industry.

  • Stand and/or walk 80–100% of an 8-hour shift.
  • Use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, and controls; reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally lift and move up to 50 lbs with assistance.
  • Work in both hot kitchen and cold alpine conditions.

  • Industrial kitchen equipment
  • Serving and cooking utensils
  • Cleaning tools

Working Conditions

  • Work primarily performed indoors in kitchen and cafeteria environments with exposure to humid conditions, hot/sharp objects, and cleaning chemicals.
  • May occasionally be exposed to extreme cold, wet, or alpine conditions.
  • Willingness, if necessary, to travel to work via chairlift, snowmobile, or snowcat.
  • Harsh winter weather conditions may be encountered while at work or traveling to work in a high alpine environment.

Employment Terms:

Employment with Red Lodge Mountain is subject to the probationary period as outlined in the Employee Handbook. During the probationary period, employment is at-will and may be terminated by either party without cause or notice. Upon successful completion of probation, termination may occur only for good cause, in compliance with the Montana Wrongful Discharge from Employment Act (WDEA).
