Job Summary: Ensures the safety of all people riding all lifts here at RLM through effective team leadership in preventive, reactive, and capital maintenance. Supervises and directs activities of Lift Maintenance department.

Essential Job Responsibilities / Duties / Tasks

Other duties may be assigned.

· Directly supervise lift maintenance staff in the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of ski lifts.

· Maintain thorough, accurate, and up-to-date records of all work performed, including inspections, repairs, and preventative maintenance.

· Create, implement, and maintain a quality assurance program that meets or exceeds ANSI B77, insurance, and management requirements.

· Maintain inventory and procure parts, tools, and resources to complete work safely and efficiently.

· Schedule all lift maintenance and coordinate activities with other departments and contract workers as needed.

· Work with the Director of Mountain Operations to hire, train, and develop employees.

· Partner with the Director of Mountain Operations to plan, develop, and manage operating and capital budgets for the Lift Maintenance Department.

· Provide performance feedback through recognition, rewards, reviews, and disciplinary action.

· Evaluate existing maintenance practices and culture; drive positive change to improve safety, consistency, and compliance.

· Lead and influence a culture of safety and professionalism, ensuring all work is planned, executed, and documented to established standards.

· Wear, promote, and enforce the use of proper PPE for all tasks.

· Safely operate a digital voltmeter for effective electrical troubleshooting.

· Communicate effectively with employees and management.

· Maintain organized and clean workspaces.

· Support other departments as required.

· Perform lift operator duties as needed.

Skills and Qualifications

Required

· Ability to read, analyze, and interpret electrical schematics, technical drawings, and legal documents.

· Comfortable using heavy equipment, power tools, hand tools, line equipment, rigging, and electrical equipment.

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills with guests and coworkers.

· Ability to work a varied schedule, including weekends and holidays.

· Intermediate or better proficiency in downhill skiing or snowboarding.

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to manage unexpected issues.

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

· Ability to safely operate a snowmobile and promote a strong snowmobile safety culture.

· Ensures lift maintenance and repair activities meet current standards, including ANSI B77.1, manufacturer, insurer, and applicable law requirements.

Experience / Education:

Required

· Minimum of 8 years of mechanical experience.

· Demonstrated leadership qualities.

· Knowledge of the ski industry.

· Experience with detachable and fixed-grip lifts, including surface lifts and associated systems.

· Thorough understanding of the ANSI B77.1 Standard, and its intent.

· Level II NDT certification desired.

· Ability to walk or stand 90% or more of a normal 10-hour shift.

· Ability to lift and move 75 lbs or more.

· Ability to walk on uneven terrain, snow, and ice; shovel snow; bend, climb, and stoop for extended periods.

Work Environment

· Moderate physical activity, frequently handling 30–50 lbs and occasionally 75+ lbs.

· Frequent and repetitive climbing of lift towers in extreme weather conditions.

· Compliance with fall-arrest PPE and procedures when working at heights.

· Follow all applicable OSHA standards and site procedures.

· Ability to perform maintenance tasks in confined spaces, at heights, and in awkward positions.

· First aid, and CPR certification desired.

· Operate company vehicles as part of daily duties.

· Flexibility to adjust schedule on short notice.

· May require nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime during peak demand periods.

· Outdoor work in varied, often extreme, weather conditions.

Ski lifts, snowmobiles, ATVs/side-by-sides, OTR vehicles, Megger, digital voltmeter, NDT equipment, rigging equipment, fall-arrest PPE, general PPE, mechanical tools, toner/locator, oscilloscope, hydraulic tools, welding equipment, two-way radio, ropes, ice pick, shovel and snow scoop.
