Job Title: Midway Bartender                     

Reports to: Food & Beverage Manager

Exempt/Non-Exempt: Non-Exempt                                                                                                                                

Job Summary: Prepares and serves alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and food at Midway Lodge. Ensure compliance with liquor and food safety laws while delivering outstanding guest service in an alpine environment.

Essential Job Responsibilities/Duties/Tasks include the following: other duties may be assigned:

  • Provide top-quality customer service to all guests and employees.

  • Ensure courteous, safe, and efficient treatment of guests and coworkers.

  • Maintain clean and orderly food and beverage facilities.

  • Assure compliance with health, safety, and liquor regulations.

  • Prepare and serve cocktails, wine, beer, and food.

  • Accurately ring up purchases, handle cash, process credit card transactions, and enter tips using the POS system (Toast, RTP).

  • Stock, organize, and clean bar and cooler areas.

  • Take out garbage/recycling daily; clean and mop behind the bar.

  • Assist with ordering, receiving, and inventory as assigned

Required:

  • State of Montana Responsible Alcohol Sales and Service (RASS) Training Program certification (must be obtained before serving alcohol).

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with guests, co-workers, and supervisors.

  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor in a high-volume setting.

  • Demonstrated good judgment and decision-making skills.

  • Ability to work varied schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

  • Ability to ski or snowboard to access Midway Lodge.

Preferred:

  • Experience tending bar.

  • Cash handling experience.

  • Prior hospitality or public-facing experience.

  • Knowledge of the ski industry.

  • Stand and/or walk up to 90% of an 8-hour shift.

  • Use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, and controls; reach with hands and arms.

  • Occasionally lift and move up to 50 lbs (including kegs), with assistance as needed.

  • Ability to work in hot kitchen areas and cold alpine conditions.

Equipment Used:

  • Industrial kitchen and bar equipment

  • PC / Point of Sale system

  • Snow shovels and cleaning tools

  • Exposure to ski lifts and snowcats

  • Work primarily performed indoors in a bar/restaurant environment with occasional exposure to humid conditions, hot/sharp objects, and cleaning chemicals.

  • May occasionally be exposed to extreme cold, wet, or alpine weather.

  • Willingness, if necessary, to travel to work via chairlift, snowmobile, or snowcat.

  • Harsh winter weather conditions may be encountered while at work or traveling to work in a high alpine environment.
