About Pine Tree Camp and Why We're Hiring

Pine Tree Camp is a year-round accessible recreation facility in central Maine that offers a variety of program opportunities for adults and children with different abilities. We are entering into our 77th summer of consistently meeting the needs of our community. With all of our expansion that has happened over the past few years, we are looking for a new Assistant Director to run our year-round day camp programs that happen here on camp, out in different and underserved communities, and online.

What We Do

We recognize the privilege of the space we hold in the world and strive to provide meaningful and fun outdoor recreation for everyone. While camp is fun, it is what happens during that fun that we make our greatest impact. We want our camper's self-confidence to grow, to try new things, make new friends and connections that extend beyond the world of camp, have an increased appreciation of nature and the ability to take ownership in the space that has been created around them. All in all, camp is more than "just" camp, it is about expanding access both here on campus and beyond.

What We Pay

The salary range for this position is $45,000-$49,000 with seasonal housing provided while you’re here and all meals while you are here on camp. You also have access to all of our facilities so you can enjoy your summer while you’re here. Families can also be accommodated, even if you have pets. The amount of professional development offered within our organization goes beyond just camp, it's about getting you where you want to be professionally and personally in your journey.

How We Work

We work hard. We have fun. Our year-round team consists of our Camp Director, Assistant Director of Overnight Programs, Camp Relations Coordinator, Lead Facilities Coordinator, and Facilities Coordinator. We are rounding out our team with this position. Pine Tree Camp is a part of a larger organization called Pine Tree Society which serves adults and children with disabilities in a variety of ways in Maine and beyond. We work in collaboration with each other and other organizations that also serve people with disabilities.

What I'll Be Doing

As the Assistant Director of Day Programs, you will work on relaunching, innovating and executing day camp programming both here on camp, online, and out in the community. You are a supporter, leader and collaborator. Our goal is to set our campers and staff up for success throughout every program. During the summer, we ask that the Assistant Director lives on-site throughout peak program months (June-August) and be available on-site throughout the year for a variety of programs we run. When the program is not in session, you have the ability to work remotely most of the week. We meet at least once a week as a year-round team to ensure that all goals are being met.

What Are the Requirements?

We are looking for someone who wants to grow within the camp profession. This is a position that requires flexibility, adaptability, teamwork, and a drive to create the best experience possible for our campers and all of those that come down our hill every year and become a part of our history.

How to Apply

Please follow our application link. After a quick phone screening with our HR department, an initial interview will be done with our Camp Director and Assistant Camp Director. We will then follow up with another quick interview with the rest of our team members and a decision will then be made and the candidate notified.
