- Entry level
- Start Date:
What do we do? We have groups of students, typically 6th graders, that come to camp for an outdoor experience with their classmates and teachers.
Each instructor is assigned to a field group. As an instructor, you would eat meals with your group, take them on hikes, and lead team-building and nature center activities. Instructors also teach ‘classes’ to the students, which can be on a variety of topics. We let our instructors choose what they want to teach, so long as you can make your class fit our philosophy. With some of our groups, we run a living history program based on the underground railroad. We also do other camp activities like campfire, night hike, and large group games.
What we want? We’re looking for people who love kids, want to learn, and are excited about being outside. Camp experience is great! Though having experience teaching nature is a plus, it isn’t necessary. As long as you are excited to learn, we can teach you what you need. We strived to have instructors from different backgrounds.
What do you get? Our instructors live in our staff house. The students are supervised by their teachers at night, so our instructors don’t worry about nighttime supervision. The staff house has a full kitchen, living room, WiFi, and laundry facilities at no charge. Meals are provided when camp is in session. Instructor salary starts at $278/week, paid twice a month. Besides all of that, you also get the experience of camp, learning a lot, interacting with kids, and lots of fun!
