Are you passionate about organic farming, sustainable living, and community-based work? Do you love the idea of growing your own food, learning new skills, and living in a peaceful, retreat-like setting? At Odiyan, we offer a unique Resident Volunteer Opportunity where you’ll experience hands-on farming, communal living, and personal growth—all while surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty.
What You’ll Do:
Get your hands in the dirt! Work alongside our head gardener to cultivate a diverse mix of vegetables and herbs.
Cook, preserve, and nourish—help prepare, store and cook homegrown vegetarian food.
Engage in physical, meaningful work—bend, kneel, lift up to 50 lbs, and use small gardening tools and machines.
Contribute to the community through assisting on sacred art projects, and maintaining the beauty of the Odiyan Center.
A Unique Work-Study Experience
Life at Odiyan goes beyond farming—it’s a holistic experience of learning, mindfulness, and meaningful work.
As a resident, you’ll have access to:
Buddhist study and practice, meditation, and mantra
Traditional arts, trades, and hands-on skill training
Program Details:
Commitment: Preferably 8 months, with a minimum of 6 months.
Start Dates: Openings available in March, April, or May.
What You'll Receive:
Free home-cooked vegetarian meals and beverages
Free housing—large room with a and one roommate
Living allowance of $200 per month ($300 after one year)
Free Wi-Fi and domestic phone calls
Access to hiking trails, fresh air, clean water, and wide-open spaces
Opportunities for meditation, Buddhist teachings, and mantra practice
Is This the Experience for You?
This is hard but deeply rewarding work. If you’re strong, motivated, and eager to learn the full cycle of growing and preparing your own food, we’d love to hear from you.
