We are the year-round Island-wide public transportation system on Martha's Vineyard. Martha’s Vineyard Transit Authority (VTA) serves the residents and visitors to our island. We provided more than 890,000 trips, enabling our riders to shop, work, sightsee and receive medical care. Our associates serve as ambassadors to our beautiful community and are the heart and soul of the Vineyard.

About Marthas Vineyard Transit Authority /Transit Connection, Inc.
The Martha's Vineyard Transit Authority (VTA) provides year-round public transit service to the six towns of Martha's Vineyard: Aquinnah, Chilmark, Edgartown, Oak Bluffs, Tisbury and West Tisbury. The VTA's transportation services consist of both fixed route and paratransit services (known as the "LIFT").
The VTA's fixed-route service varies throughout the year, depending on the seasonal travel demand. The VTA's peak season of operation typically runs from May to October, with fourteen routes that travel Island-wide.
Transit Connection, Inc. (TCI) has hired, trained, and scheduled all vehicle operators for the VTA since 2002. We pride ourselves in safely and efficiently providing more than 1,366,000 trips this past year. Our transit system enables passengers to get to and from work, play, beaches, stores, etc. Our vehicle operators serve as ambassadors to our beautiful community and are the heart and soul of the Vineyard.
We are proud to introduce 6 electric buses to our fleet in 2020!

You should enjoy a flexible schedule which permits you to work mornings, afternoon, evenings and even late nights - we work hard to schedule hours you prefer to work - when possible.
Room and Board
We provide shared, apartment-style housing on a first-come, first-serve basis for a modest fee.
One 4-bedroom house which accommodates 7 people includes a living room, kitchen with dishwasher, 2 full bathrooms and a washer/dryer.
One 3-bedroom house which accommodates 6 people, includes a living room, dining room, kitchen, 2 full bathrooms, washer/dryer, and an outside shower!!!!!!
Bedrooms contain 2 single beds, kitchens are stocked with all the equipment and utensils you will need. Housing is typically a 5-minute bike/bus ride to a beach.
CDL starts at $20.50 per hour, overtime available for the bulk of the season.
Increase to $22.50 per hour starting on 8/1/22
Positions available for Non-CDL (vans) and CDL operators.
Comercial Driver's License (CDL) with PAID training and testing provided on-site
SIMPLE IRA - Eligible to participate in our SIMPLE IRA Plan after completing one year of service. The program includes a 3% company match.

Getting Here and Getting Around
Q: Do I need to bring my car to Martha’s Vineyard?
A: No. The VTA provides year-round Island-wide transportation. VTA service is accessible from both ferry terminals and the MV Airport. Many seasonal employees enjoying cycling to work (based on where they live). Most housing locations have parking for employee vehicles.
Q: Can visitors see the whole Island using VTA transportation?
A: Yes. The VTA provides service to all six of the Island towns and travels on all major roads. VTA routes cover most major points of interest. We do NOT provide chartered or guided tours.
Q: Does the bus meet the ferries?
A: Yes. The VTA makes every effort to meet the Steamship Authority arrivals and departures - Vineyard Haven and Oak Bluffs. There is also a dedicated Park & Ride bus for the Vineyard Haven port. No matter what season or what port you come into, there is a bus stop nearby.
Q: Can I bring my bike on the bus?
A: Yes. VTA buses are equipped with a bicycle rack that can accommodate two or three bikes at a time, on a first come, first serve basis. There is no extra charge for bringing your bike along.
Q: Does the VTA service the airport?
A: Yes. Routes #6, #7, and #9 serve the airport year round.
We are on a summer resort island, so for fun, the beach, fishing and water sports are the big attractions. There are seasonal events:
