Specializing in Yosemite backpacking trips, day hikes, and outdoor youth summer camps, Lasting Adventures has introduced thousands of youth to nature and wilderness experience through adventure-based programming. We are also expanding into Olympic National Park and Lassen National Park.

Working to ensure programs are meaningful, supportive, educational and fun, Yosemite Backpacking Guides facilitate youth backpacking summer camps and adventure-based outdoor education programs. Additional responsibilities include adequately preparing food and gear for each trip, unpacking, and de-prepping after trips have returned from the field, and assisting and leading custom guide service programs and day trips as needed.

The summer season starts with mandatory staff training during the first week of June. Most Guides will then work 15-20 days per month through August, with the potential to assist on Guide Service programs through October. Guides must be able to work flexible hours, weekends, evenings and holidays.

Pay starts at $130/day (not including tips), optional highly discounted lodging at the guide house near Yosemite, and meals while on trips. Applicants must be 21+ years old (with a college degree in recreation, environmental studies or youth development preferred), WFR and CA Food Handlers certified, have a mobile phone with AT&T or Verizon service, a valid driver's license, clean driving record, reliable transportation, and experience in the outdoors, backpacking, backcountry cooking, and working with youth.

This position requires interaction with the public, including youth of all ages and adults, and we train our staff on the precautions we expect to be taken to limit exposure to COVID-19.

We have developed a COVID-19 response plan, and expect all staff to follow it in order to protect themselves and our participants. This plan includes (but is not limited to) the mandatory use of a mask when in close contact with others, the use of handwashing and hand sanitizer, and regular temperature checks before preparing or departing for a trip. You can find a summary of our COVID protocols here.  Our full protocol will be included with job offers and at training.
