Porter

The Porter plays a vital role in delivering outstanding guest experience by offering prompt, friendly, and professional service. As the first point of contact at the resort, this role embodies the hospitality and high standards of Lajitas Golf Resort through exceptional appearance, demeanor, and character. In addition to guest-facing duties, this position provides support to the front desk and transportation services.

Duties

• Greet guests upon arrival at the entrance or parking lot

• Escort or direct guests to appropriate resort areas or venues

• Assist guests with luggage and personal belongings

• Maintain the cleanliness and readiness of the people mover golf cart

• Keep resort vehicles clean, fueled, and in service-ready condition

• Provide guest transportation to and from the airport as required

• Support front desk operations when assigned

• Perform additional duties as directed by the Hotel Director or Front Desk Supervisor, especially during peak occupancy, special events, or projects

• Maintain accurate logs for vehicle and key usage

• Report and document any accidents or injuries in compliance with resort safety protocols

Education/Experience:

• High school diploma or GED required

• 1–3 months of relevant experience preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience

• Must be at least 21 years of age with a valid driver’s license

• Bilingual skills are a plus but not required

• Able to read and interpret safety rules, operating manuals, and procedure documents

• Strong communication skills, including the ability to speak clearly with guests and coworkers

• Able to follow instructions delivered in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

• Problem-solving skills for handling standardized, real-world situations

Nestled along Highway 170, where the road curves to embrace the Rio Grande, Lajitas Golf Resort is located just 17 miles southwest of the junction of Highways 118/170 at Terlingua, Texas. Tucked between the rugged beauty of Big Bend National Park and Big Bend Ranch State Park, our resort offers an unparalleled retreat in one of the most serene corners of Texas.

To give you a sense of our remote charm, we're approximately 200 miles from the nearest Walmart in Fort Stockton and 95 miles from the closest McDonald's or stoplight in Alpine. This seclusion is part of what makes Lajitas so special—no traffic, no city lights—just peaceful surroundings, tranquility, and some of the best stargazing you'll find anywhere.

While a vehicle is not essential for staying at the resort, since our housing is conveniently located near resort amenities, having a car is recommended for trips to Presidio (55 miles southwest) or Alpine (95 miles north) for major shopping or outings.
