Seward and Soldotna are approximately one hour away. Anchorage is just under a two-hour drive. Cooper Landing is a very small town and offers a multitude of outdoor activities. Fishing, hiking, biking, and a variety of water sports are all literally right out your door.  It is not remote but on the extreme end of rural.

A vehicle is not critical but it will offer many more opportunities to see the great state of Alaska. The restaurant is located centrally in town, walking and/or biking are both acceptable ways to navigate Cooper Landing.

Housing is a premium in The Landing. It is a case by case scenario depending on your desired level of creature comforts you can (or cannot) live without. This is the perfect location for the more adventurous type. Living out of your van or mobile home is ideal. We are located in the middle of a 5.5 million acre national forest. Laundry and showers are available at a couple of different locations in town. If you want to try 'cabin living' (no water), expect to pay $400/month. Renting a room in a furnished house is $600/month. There is very little housing available, procrastinating is not an option.
