As an interpretive trail guide you will be an educator and entertainer who can enthusiastically provide information to our guests about the flora, fauna and history of Herring Cove and the surrounding area. Trail guides are expected to lead professional, informative tours in a variety of environments and potentially challenging conditions.

Summary of Essential Job Functions

  • Conducts tours in the time allotted with adherence to quality standards
  • Meet and greet guests, explain the tour’s objectives, goals and safety procedures
  • Lead guests into the Rainforest and provide a guided tour of the flora and fauna of Southeast Alaska and the history of Herring Cove.
  • Effectively manage groups while in the field, assessing guest safety and wellbeing
  • Adhere to all ethical wildlife viewing practices
  • Help guest in finding gift items in the Store and escort guests back to their bus for return trip to ship
