Freight / Dock employees are responsible for the pickup and delivery of mail daily. Transference of mail/freight to and from aircraft. Assisting with the loading and unloading of aircraft. The fueling/handling of aircraft. Cleaning/maintaining of aircraft. Maintaining freight equipment. Keeping work areas clean/organized. Other tasks as needed or requested.

Summary of Essential Job Functions

  • Pick up mail from Post Office
  • Sort mail and deliver to proper aircraft as determined by dispatch
  • Help launch aircraft
  • Assist in loading and unloading aircraft
  • Acceptance of freight and proper storage
  • Ability to identify and properly handle hazardous material
  • Assist in the fueling of aircraft
  • Assist in the pumping of aircraft floats, cleaning of aircraft, and ramping of aircraft
  • Assure aircraft are secured when docked
  • Make repairs to dock, carts, mail van as needed or instructed
  • Keep freight room, docks, mail van and building areas clean
  • Assist pilots in docking / turning out aircraft
  • Maintain radio contact with dispatch at all times
  • Have freight carts on dock when aircraft return to expedite turn around
  • Make sure docks, ramps and ropes are in good condition
  • Empty trash cans: docks, building daily
  • At end of day make sure carts and freight items are brought off dock and properly stored. Mail van is fueled, locked and key left in the appropriate location
  • Check with Director of Operations, Director of Maintenance, or Chief Pilot for projects to fill in gaps between flights or during weather delays
  • Keep grounds and facilities in a clean and professional condition
  • Report any and all hazards or safety concerns to a supervisor as soon as possible
  • Duties are not limited to the ones above, effort on the employees part to recognize things needing to be done and accomplishing them is also the employees responsibility.

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Possess or obtain DOT medical
  • Valid drivers license and clean driving record
  • No criminal convictions
  • Minimum 21 years old
