Johnson’s of St. Mary is a family owned restaurant on the northern border of Glacier National Park in Montana. We have been providing Glacier Park with great “Family-Style” food for over 50 years. Alongside our Restaurant, we also operate our RV Park, Campground, and Cabins with stunning views of the park.

Johnson’s of St. Mary is a historic restaurant located in St. Mary, Montana on the eastern entrance of Glacier National Park.

About Johnson's of St Mary

Johnson's has been in business since 1950 and has an outstanding reputation, and we expect our employees to maintain that standard.  Johnson's provides on-the-job training for all positions. Johnson's serves all of its food homemade and "family-style." We have customers return each year just to eat and stay at Johnson's.  Johnson's is the longest run family business in the area.  This will be our 70th year in business!  Johnson's is located less than 1/2 mile from the east entrance of Glacier National Park.  The east side of Glacier is best known for its outdoor recreational activities.

The work is demanding, both physically and mentally. Employees must be able to work well under pressure and have a positive attitude toward the public. Many employees love working at Johnson's, and many will return each year.

Johnson's hires approximately 35-40 employees for the summer season (mid-May-late September).

COVID-19: Johnson's plans to open around the first part of June. However, such plans are subject to change depending on any Covid-19 restrictions imposed by the Blackfeet Tribe.

The Employee Experience

Work hard and play hard with us during the busy tourism season in Glacier National Park. Employees will work a variety of shifts up to 30-35 hours per week. Most employees will live onsite in our employee dorms or our employee campground.  Johnson's property has breathtaking views and is less than 1/2 mile from the Park entrance. Johnson's is rural and many employees love the area which has not been ruined by overdevelopment. Employees will benefit from learning from the Johnson's work ethic, including, making everything from scratch. We are a family business, not a corporation. We treat our employees like family.

Johnson's values energetic, hardworking and positive employees! Johnson's is a great place to work and enjoy the summer season without the big city distractions. Johnson's is near some of the best hiking and fishing in the world!

Covid-19: Employees/public may be limited in the ability to fully enjoy Glacier Park and the surrounding area due to restrictions imposed by Glacier Park and the Blackfeet Tribe.

Ideal Candidate

Johnson's is an ideal environment for honest, energetic, employees with a hard work ethic. Johnson's has a long reputation of serving homemade food with fast and friendly service.  Johnson's is looking for employees with a positive demeanor, who can work in a fast pace environment and will provide the customer with a pleasant dinning experience.  Johnson's does offer employment to students with J-1 Visas (not H2B).

Johnson's is looking for employees who want to work more like a family and less like an individual. It's one thing to pour a pre-made bag of goop into a soup pot vs making it from scratch. Johnson's is for the employee who wants to grow as an individual.

Room and Board

Johnson's has limited living quarters available to employees at a cost of $10.00 per day for room and board, including two (2) meals per-day (reduced rate for returning employees).

If employees choose to stay in our campground, a campsite and meals will be $7.00 per day, including two (2) meals per-day (reduced rate for returning employees).

Room and board is deducted from the employees check each month. Our dormitories are newly refurbished, and many employees enjoy staying in the dorms.

We have separate living quarters available for males and females. For a fee and on a limited basis, we allow overnight guests. All employees must furnish their own bedding and towels (Johnson's does have a limited/emergency supply of bedding and towels). Please bring plenty of WARM bedding as the nights do get very cool. There are coin-laundry facilities available at the campground.

The only cell phone service available in St. Mary is Verizon Wireless. If you do not have a cell phone or cannot receive service with your carrier, there are pay phones located in the Cafe and Campground Store. Johnson's does have wifi located inside the campground office and throughout the campground.

If employed, we suggest you stock up on personal items and essentials before arriving in this rural area.
