The Hotel Iroquois is in the premiere waterfront location on historic Mackinac Island.  With 80% of the island protected by a Michigan State Park the island is flush with outdoor recreational activities while having a vibrant business community and tourism industry.

Mackinac Island is the number 1 tourist destination in the Midwest. No cars are on the island, just bicycle, foot and horse traffic. It is like going back in time. With over 10,000 visitors a day it is great place to live and play.

Employees enjoy some of the best room and board available on Mackinac at the Hotel Iroquois featuring an apartment style complex out of downtown in the residential district adjoining the State Park property and trails.

Ideal Candidate

Hotel Iroquois is family owned and operated. We look for employees that thrive in a less corporate environment and enjoy working for a company where you are a name and not a number. We look for staff who are energetic and interested in meeting new people from other parts of the country as well as other cultures.

We employ approximately 100 people over the course of the summer season from early May through October

Room and Board

Hotel Iroquois reserves apartment-style housing for their staff. It is located close to the hotel. We recommend bringing a bicycle with a basket and lock for your transportation on the Island. You may also purchase a bicycle on the Island.

Each apartment has five bedrooms, each with its own bathroom and two twin beds. Apartments also have a kitchen area complete with a microwave, sink and refrigerator. Living room and dining area are shared by all persons living in that apartment.

The commissary provides a community room with color TV, VCR, regulation size pool table, coin-operated laundry equipment and internet access.

We also provide partial board for our staff. Dinner is prepared for you in our staff kitchen and served at prescribed times. We make every effort to provide well-balanced and nutritious meals.

There is a nominal fee for room and partial board.

Employee Perks

Pay day is every other week. We offer an end of season bonus for staff who work through their commitment. Employees receive discounted room rates for visiting family members dependent on availability and pre-approval.

Getting Here and Getting Around

Mackinac Island is located in the Straits of Mackinac, between Michigan's Upper and Lower Peninsulas. Mackinac Island is easy to reach by car, boat or plane. For those who arrive by automobile, there is frequent ferry service to the Island from both Mackinaw City and St. Ignace with ample seasonal parking facilities.

Commercial airlines from Detroit provide daily service to the Pellston Airport just 12 miles south of the Mackinaw City. Taxi service between the Pellston Airport and Mackinac City ferry docks is available.

As no cars are allowed on the Island, the general mode of transportation is walking, bicycling or horse-drawn carriage taxi's. We recommend bringing a bicycle with a basket and lock for your transportation on the Island. You may also purchase a bicycle once on the Island.

For Fun

Mackinac Island is rated by National Geographic magazine as one of the top 10 most beautiful Islands. The many acres of natural shoreline and woodlands are enhanced by the fact that there are no cars allowed on the Island. Transportation is limited to walking, bicycling, horseback riding, or horse drawn taxi. If you are a sports enthusiast, this is the place to be. Eighty percent of the island is owned by the state park so there is an abundance of trails for hiking, biking and exploring. Boating, swimming, paddle boarding, kayaking and fishing are among the many water activities available.

There is a historic theater on Mackinac Island that features Monday night first run movies. Concerts in Marquette Park overlooking the marina and other arts activities are available through the Mackinac Arts Council. Ballroom dancing classes are also popular.

A short ferry boat ride to the mainland will allow for activities such as movies, sand beaches and various festivals throughout the season. In under an hour, you can drive to Canada (bring your passport) if you head north, or some of the coastal towns along Lake Michigan if you head south.
