Staff Training begins on May 28th, 2023

Staff Training for Adventure Staff begins on May 23rd, 2023 (High Ropes, Climbing Tower, Zipline, Giant Swing, Low Ropes)
Summer camp ends July 28th, 2023.  
For those looking to extend summer work, High Peak's group retreats and rentals begin in August and run through November. High Peak is always in need of extra staff during these months.

    up to $300.00 / week

    Function:   A High Peak Cabin Leader is responsible for facilitating weekly camp activities for their assigned group of campers.  Cabin Leaders live in the cabins with their assigned campers.  Age group assignments rotate weekly. 

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    GENERAL DUTIES:

    • Attend and participate in evening programs and spiritual activities.
    • Maintain a standard of cleanliness in personal grooming and in living quarters.
    • Assist with the clean-up of the total camp at the end of each session and at the conclusion of the summer.
    • Assist with Camper check-in and check-out.


    SPECIFIC DUTIES:

    Safety and Supervision

    • Enforce, and abide by, all camp policies and procedures
    • Maintain the utmost level of safety for staff and campers at all times
    • Practice and enforce all camp safety regulations and emergency procedures.
    • Ensure compliance with American Camping Association standards of safety and programmatic conduct at all times.
    • Coordinate and implement all program components relative to the daily schedule in a timely fashion.


    Weekly Responsibilities

    • Attend trainings and weekly staff meetings.
      • Cabin Leader must attend the two-week staff training before serving for the summer. 
      • Staff meetings occur every Monday before camper arrival and on Saturday after all, campers have departed from camp and camp is cleaned. 
      • In-service trainings take place during the summer.  All Cabin Leaders are required to attend all in-service trainings that pertain to their summer role.
    • Lead assigned campers in daily camp activities.
      • Participate with and guide cabin group in morning, afternoon, and evening activities throughout the week.
      • Participate with and guide cabin group in all opening and closing activities.
      • Activities include: all age-appropriate camp programs assigned during weekly scheduling meetings, devotions, mealtimes, chill time (rest hour), “all-camp” activities, etc…
    • Lead campers in camp chores.  Cabin Leaders are to lead by example.
      • Assist campers with daily cabin clean up, including, sweeping, making beds, hanging wet clothing, etc…
      • Assist campers with meal clean up, including, washing dishes, dumping trash, wiping down table, etc…
      • Assist campers with weekly group capers.  Capers may include taking out trash, sweeping the DH, etc…
    • Lead and participate in group devotion times, activity discussions, and praise and worship.
      • Be present and on time for morning devotion (quiet time).
      • Plan and lead group devotions daily.
      • Take time to discuss activities in relation to camper’s Christian walk.
      • Actively participate in the praise and worship at weekly campfires.
    • Manage camper behavior.
      • Manage behavior that needs to be managed and relax when it does not need to be managed. 
      • High Peak Camp does not tolerate bullying.  Be proactive in keeping positive group interaction.
    • Practice and enforce all camp safety regulations and emergency procedures.
      • Maintain group control at specialized group activities so that the support staff can focus on safety. 
      • Refer to staff manual to be sure all safety regulations and emergency procedures are being followed.
      • Adhere to all PTM guidelines.
    • Participate in “all-camp” activities and large group activities.
      • “All-camp” and large group activities include Monday group games, Monday and Friday camp fires,
    • Responsible for the health and well-being of self and assigned campers.
      • Cabin Leaders are responsible for meeting their own personal health and hygiene needs, including taking prescribed medications.
      • Allow campers time to take care of personal hygiene including, showers, brushing teeth, etc…
      • Escort campers to the nurse for daily medications.
      • Escort campers to the nurse to treat injuries or illness outside of your level of care or training.
    • Perform all other duties and roles assigned.
      • Due to the particular nature of the camp program in session, you may be asked to assist in duties not directly related to this specific job description. This is necessary for the smooth operation of the camp. Staff members are expected to comply with all reasonable requests.

    Qualification and Education Requirements:

    • Personal relationship and commitment to Jesus Christ.
    • 18+ years of age.
    • Current First Aid and CPR certification (may be obtained on site).
    • Experience providing childcare and supervision and must love being with children.
    • Ability to use positive behavior management techniques with campers and an ability to adapt to difficult situations with a sense of maturity and safety.
    • Maintain a high standard of Christian personal living and behaviors.

  • Activities Specialist

    • Ensure compliance with American Camping Association standards of safety and programmatic conduct at all times.

    Weekly Responsibilities

    • Meet weekly with Adventure Coordinator and communicate needs, program changes, and concerns related activities programing.
    • Work in a variety of program areas to support cabins.
      • This may include archery, zipline, high ropes course, climbing tower, sports, etc. and will be determined by need and experience/comfort.
    • Lead all sports during cabin activity times as scheduled.
      • Support Cabin Leaders by organizing supplies for various sports activities. These may be run by you, activities specialists, or coordinated with Cabin Leader staff.
      • Sports field includes large turf soccer field with backstop, cover basketball court and sand volleyball.
    • Facilitate Challenge Course programing as scheduled.
      • Enforce “Challenge By Choice” and experiential learning models.
      • Ensure all pre-use inspections take place prior to using activities.
      • Facilitate programing with individual goals in mind.
      • Work with Adventure Coordinator to maintain equipment when necessary.
    • Oversee Waterfront areas as scheduled.
      • Maintain clean and safe waterfront environment at all times.
        • Make sure waterfront areas are vacated, secured and locked when not in use.
      • Responsible for the safe and proper handling and storge or all waterfront activity equipment.
        • This includes boats, paddles, lifejackets, and fishing equipment.
      • Initiate a strict water safety program in keeping with Red Cross, American Camping Association, and State of Colorado requirements.
      • Serve as a lifeguard when needed.
      • Assist in camper fishing programs by ensuring rods, reels and bait are accessible and working with campers and staff in their proper use.
      • Utilize staff abilities to best advantage in carrying out the waterfront program and instruct staff assigned to waterfront duties.
    • Maintain Archery Equipment as needed and scheduled by Adventure Coordinator.
    • Assist in implementing rainy day activities and implement as needed.
    • Assist with overnight campouts.
      • Campouts will take place in the fort.
      • Gather needed supplies for cookout – coordinate what is needed at the beginning of the week with counselor and their cabin.
    • Assist with programming of all campfire programs.
      • These may include messy games, skits, and songs for campers.
    • Attend all relevant in-services for areas trained.
    • Perform all other duties and roles assigned.

  • Assistant Camp Nurse

    SPECIFIC DUTIES:

    Safety and Supervision

    • Enforce, and abide by, all camp policies and procedures
    • Responsible for the health and well-being of self and campers.
    • Maintain the utmost level of safety for staff and campers at all times
    • Practice and enforce all camp safety regulations and emergency procedures.
      • Maintain group/staff control at specialized group activities so that other support staff can focus on safety.
    • Ensure compliance with American Camping Association standards of safety and programmatic conduct at all times.
    • Maintain good records of treatment, medication distribution, and other tasks.
    • Attend relevant in-service trainings.

     

    Weekly Responsibilities

    • Assist the Camp Nurse is planning and carrying out a total health and safety program for the camp staff according to High Peak Camp health protocols.
    • Guide Cabin Leaders in their responsibilities for their camper’s health.
    • Assist Camp Nurse as assigned in the following duties:
      • Communicate information effectively and accurately to facilitate continuity of care.
      • Maintain accountability for nursing judgements and actions.
      • Make appropriate decisions that reflect knowledge and good judgement.
      • Recognize and demonstrate an awareness of legal responsibility and limitations by functioning within the scope of HPC including, but not limited to:
        • Keeping a daily log of all camper and staff treatment.
        • Utilizing aseptic technique.
        • Recognizing the existence of an infection process.
        • Using equipment and supplies in a safe, legal, and economic manner.
        • Collecting and filing all camper medical files.
        • Compiling a brief at the end of the summer season.
      • Complete and file the health log as specified on the front cover within a reasonable time. Each camper that visits the infirmary should be entered into the log, with the following:
        • A description of the injury or illness.
        • The campers of staff’s cabin, age, and time of visit.
        • Indicate treatment given and initial in the columns indicated.
      • Log staff members who visit in the same fashion as the campers, using red ink for easy identification in case of a workman’s compensation claim.
      • Educate the registration staff regarding lice check procedures, which will be used during camper registration at the beginning of each week.
      • Responsible for the medical screening of all campers during the camper registration process, which include logging all medication(s) for each camper, dosage and dispense frequency, log the allergies, infections, medications, and any unusual health history of each camper.
      • Administer all medications and treatments according to the physician’s orders.
      • If a child is prescribed any mood or behavior altering medication, it is your responsibility to make the Cabin Leader aware of the situation.
      • All medications, prescriptions, non-prescriptions, aspirin, vitamins, etc. will be kept in the infirmary for appropriate dispensing times. The camper may keep aerosol inhalers with the Cabin Leader’s notification.
      • If any medications are listed by a physician, but not in the possession of the camper, the parent must be contacted and fax a note from the family doctor that the medication has either been discontinued or not needed for the week. If this note cannot be obtained, the camper will be sent home.
      • Strict cleanliness and sanitation in the infirmary must be maintained at all times. Infirmary beds linens should be changed daily when in use. Infirmary showers/bathrooms should be cleaned and sanitized weekly when not in use and daily when in use.
      • Inform the Assistant Director and Director of all unusual medical events.
      • Hold office hours before and after ever meal and for 30 minutes before bedtime.
      • Keep an organized inventory of all necessary medical supplies.
      • Stock and supply First Aid Kits for cabins and hikes.
      • Prepare a finalized inventory of medical supplies at the end of the summer.
    • Perform all other duties and roles assigned.
      • Due to the particular nature of the camp program in session, you may be asked to assist in duties not directly related to this specific job description. This is for the smooth operation of the camp. Staff members are expected to comply with all reasonable requests.

    Qualification and Education Requirements:

    • 18+ years of age preferred.
    • Current First Aid or higher certification.
    • Current Nursing License (RN, CPN, CPA, CAN) and if from another state, the license has reciprocity in the state of Colorado preferred.
    • Ability to use effective communication and personal skills.
    • Ability to provide supervision and guidance to both staff and campers.
    • Ability to exercise confidentiality and a professor manner.
    • Ability to keep accurate records and logs.
    • Maintain a high standard of personal and communal living and behaviors.

  • Kitchen Assistant

    Camp
    Estes Park
    $17.00 - $21.00 / hour

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • 18+ years of age.
    • Minimum two years of commercial kitchen experience.
    • Current First Aid and CPR certification (may be obtained on-site).
    • Must have or obtain ServSafe certification at time of employment.
    • Ability to follow through with assigned tasks.
    • Has a strong work ethic and ability to follow procedures.
    • Flexible attitude.


    SPECIFIC DUTIES:

    • Assist with all food service preparation as assigned by the Kitchen Manager.
    • Assist with meal service portioning as assigned by the Kitchen Manager.
    • Be familiar with quantity requirements for menu items and ready to take the lead on meal preparation and portioning if required.
    • Assist with all inventory procedures, ensuring all food removed from the stock room, refrigerators and freezer is correctly accounted for and documented by those removing the food.
    • Coordinate your daily work schedule with the Kitchen Manager for efficient food preparation.
    • Assist with cleaning and care of the kitchen, all work areas, and equipment.
    • Maintain safe work habits per all government regulations. Ensure that the behavior of those in the kitchen area is always exemplary and in keeping with professional standards.
    • Work in harmony with all other cooks and food service staff relative to daily work schedules for the efficient operation of food services.
    • In the absence of the Kitchen Manager, oversee the timely delivery of the meal service for the camp programs.
      In the kitchen manager's absence, supervise all other kitchen personnel.
