Prepares two meals daily for 25-40 guests and staff 6 days a week with the chef’s assistance in the lunch prep. May also help with baking breads and desserts. Prepares all three meals on the Chef’s day off. Typical shift will be from 6 a.m. - 2 p.m. 

Job requirements: Sous Chef position works under direction from First Cook. Cooking experience is needed to provide tasty and hearty ranch cuisine that is pleasing to the eye and can accommodate restrictive diets. Must be hard working, have a clean appearance, and a willingness to work with others and pitch in where needed. In preparation for guests’ arrival on Sunday does some cleaning in the kitchen assisting the chef.  Must be willing to help with dishes and help where needed beyond main job description. Appreciation of the great outdoors would also be an asset, as you are in the middle of Montana’s scenic wilderness.  

Pay includes wages $2400/month or more depending on experience, housing and meals are provided on top of your pay as extra (no charge to you). Cooks are also included in the gratuity pool. Last year each staff who worked through the season received over $7,000 gross in gratuity, just to give you an idea.

Our guest season runs from the beginning of June until the end of September. We are located south of Big Timber, MT in the mountains 24 miles north of Yellowstone Park (as the crow flies!).  You can visit our website for more information at www.hawleymountain.com.
