- Job starts in about 1 month (May 01, 2018)
If you enjoy being on the water, adventuring in the outdoors and helping people have a great vacation this is the job for you. Handberg's Marine and Marina is uniquely located in northern Minnesota just a couple miles from the Canadian Border. Voyageurs National Park begins on the northwest end of our lake. The Boundary Waters Canoe Wilderness (BWCA) begins a couple miles to our east. Finally, Ontario's Quetico Provincial Park is to the north. If you enjoy the outdoors please check us out!
We are a 4th generation family business that is diversified but revolves around boating and customer service. We sell, repair, store and rent boats and motors as well as provide marina slips. We also rent RV Sites and have a general store with ice cream cones, clothing, gifts, groceries, bait, tackle, ice and more. We are literally at the end of the road where boating begins. Canada is to the north, Voyageur's National Park is to the west, the Boundary Waters Canoe Wilderness is to the east.
At Handberg's Marina, we are proud of our heritage of service to our customers. We value our employees and are committed to your development and training. We ask that you are honest and willing to go the extra mile throughout the season. Our summer season runs from May to October.
Are you outgoing, friendly, have a positive attitude and focus on surpassing our customers' expectations? You must effectively communicate with our customers and other employees because you'll have many familiar faces by the end of the season. You will help customers with the loading and unloading of their boats, pump gas, check out rental equipment, prep and clean the rental boats, launch and pull boats, learn how to operate a tractor, help customers renting RV Sites get settled in, clean out fire rings, take garbage to the disposal area and be willing to help wherever needed.
You must have a valid DL with a good driving record and be able to lift 75lb. Hard working and having an interest in fishing, boating, hiking and the outdoors is helpful. Previous boat handling experience helpful, but not required.
This is a fun job for multitaskers who want to be in the thick of the action. You make the first impression on our customers. Our goal is to find well-rounded team players with a love for the outdoors and a willingness to put our customers' experience first. A successful candidate should have a cheerful attitude and the willingness to go the extra mile. Reliability and honesty are paramount because your teammates and customers depend on you. Tips are good and you have the option to earn a year end bonus.
We are 4 hours north of Minneapolis/St. Paul and 2 1/2 hour north of Duluth. You do not need a personal vehicle once you are here. We can pick you up in Duluth. We provide three housing options at no charge. All are close to the water and near work - you may have a roommate with your own bedroom. Wi-Fi access is included. A shared washer and dryer are on site. Meals are as you want them - you'll purchase your own groceries and do your own cooking.
As we are a marina on the water, we rent boats and motors, kayaks and Stand Up Paddle Boards. Free for employees to use as long as they are not booked by a customer (paying for gas used).
Boating anywhere from a mile or two or 30 miles in one direction, fishing, camping, hiking, kayaking, paddle boarding, swimming or hanging out at a beach are a few of the water activities available. There are great hiking trails and rock climbing just a couple miles from the marina. If you're lucky enough to hang with us in the winter there is snowmobiling, snowshoeing or ice fishing.
Join us for an unforgettable summer in Northern Minnesota!
