Goodnews River Lodge offers a unique, full service fishing experience to anglers from around the world. Located in Southwest Alaska, the lodge provides a remote wilderness setting while maintaining excellent hospitality services. The food program is an important part of the guest experience, as there is no access to any commercial resources at the lodge. All food and beverages are provided on site by the kitchen and service staff. 

The cook is responsible for helping to keep the kitchen clean and organized. While assisting a head chef, the cook helps provide a plated dinner to all guests as well as a dinner buffet for staff each evening. Employment Dates + Hours (approximate):

• Early June - Mid September 2025

• 60 hours/week → 10 hours/day + 6 days/week

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Cook breakfast 5-6 days per week

• Help Prepare and execute dinner service with chef for guests and staff, 24 - 50 people

  • 2 hors d'oeuvres for cocktail hour

  • Soup/salad course

  • Entree + 2 sides

    • 1 salmon dish each night required

• Help manage waste and food cost with creative use of inventory

• Maintain kitchen organization and cleanliness

Candidate Preferences:

• Kitchen experience, 3+ years,  Some catering a plus

• Experience filleting and preparing fresh fish

• Previous lodge experience a plus

**It is important to note that staff members live and work on site full time. The lodge is located upriver in the remote Alaskan wilderness, and staff should be prepared to remain on site for up to 15 weeks. Staff members are provided room and board as a part of their employment contract.
