All three Restaurants are located downtown and offer a great opportunity to learn while making great money in a fun and exciting work atmosphere.
About Goodfellow's Restaurants including the Chophouse, The Grill and Riley's
Goodfellow's Italian Chophouse is located on the corner of Hoban and Main streets in the Lake View Hotel, and
Goodfellow's Grill is located on Main street in the Bicycle Street Inn. Both serve breakfast, lunch and dinner and guarantee a fun work atmosphere.
Riley's Grill is located on the water at the end of the Starline dock down town Mackinac Island and serves lunch and dinner only but supports a great late night business.
We operate seasonally between April 15th and October 31st each summer - The best time to be in Michigan!
The Employee Experience
Mackinac Island is a great seasonal job experience offering many work opportunities. Mackinac is both a small City and a State Park all on one Island. There are no automobiles, only bicycles and horses for transportation, 75% of the Island is Park with many miles of trails to explore. We are Michigan's first State Park with Fort Mackinac built in 1780 by the British overlooking downtown and a natural harbor.
Ferry boats bring over 800,000 visitors a season to Mackinac from the mainland during our busy season of May through October. Visitors are from all 50 states plus many other countries - Disney ranked Mackinac as one of the top 5 family friendly islands to visit; Conde Nast magazine ranked Mackinac in the top 10 Island resorts to visit.
There are over 4000 summer staff from all over the country as well as many parts of the world. We employee 75 staff members between the two restaurant's. Positions available are bartenders, servers, hosts, line cooks, prep cooks, housekeepers. We have housing available, both apartments and dorms, fully furnished with kitchen, internet, cable TV and laundry available on site. Rent is $125.00 per week and includes all utilities.
Work is normally 5 shifts a week totaling 40 hours, but may be more during peak times. All staff work both day and evening shifts. There is an Island recreation department that offers many organizes recreation sports and classes that is open to all staff.
Mackinac offers a great chance to meet both workers and visitors from around the country that often become life long friends and conduits to other possible jobs around the country. Work and life on Mackinac is truly a unique experience that will provide lasting memories.
Goodfellow's Restaurants are looking for motivated and experienced employees for both the front of house and culinary positions. A perfect candidate is energetic, outgoing and hard working, and of coarse likes to have fun while being challenged.
Room and Board
Housing is available and consists of both dormitory style rooms and shared apartments. All units require a bedroom with a roommate.
All units are non-smoking and pets are not permitted at anytime. All housing has cooking areas, coin laundry, Cable TV, and wireless internet is available.
Rent is figured on a weekly basis and requires a deposit upon moving in. Employees are responsible for their own sheets, linens, and personal items.
All Employees receive a 33% discount at all our sister properties including Goodfellow's Restaurants, Sanders Candy's and the Lake View Hotel.
Mackinac is a special place. Coming to work on Mackinac Island (An Indian word pronounced Mack-in-aw) is like stepping back in time - a place where there are no cars, only horses and bicycles. A five mile ferry boat ride brings you to Mackinac Island. There is a natural harbor downtown, with Fort Mackinac (built by the British Army in 1780) overlooking the town. Mackinac is a great place to meet people from all over the country and world. Each year 800,000 plus visitors come to visit Mackinac and enjoy the natural beauty and relax in the fresh air of the upper Great Lakes.
The summer working atmosphere is much like a small college campus with over 4,000 summer employees from all over the country and world. You will meet many new coworkers, make new friends and interact with many of the Island’s visitors. Getting Here and Getting Around
Mackinac Island is located between Michigan's Upper and Lower Peninsulas. For those who arrive by automobile there is frequent ferry service to the Island from both Mackinaw City and St. Ignace with ample seasonal parking facilities.
Commercial airlines from Detroit provide daily service to the Pellston Airport just 12 miles south of the Mackinaw City. Taxi service between the Pellston Airport and Mackinac City ferry docks is available.
There are no cars on Mackinac Island. Transportation is by horse drawn carriages or bicycles. Consider bringing your bike!
