  1. The Employee Health Nurse is a certified health care provider, functioning within the Division of People & Culture and working under the direction of the Medical Review Officer.

  2. Plan, organize, initiate and manage nursing care for assigned employee populations.  Performs a variety of related functions of Occupational Health.

  3. Performs initial injury assessment and triage for occupational injuries/ illnesses.  Provides nursing evaluation and treatment for occupational and non-occupational injuries/illnesses as detailed by departmental policies and procedures.

  4. Participates in orientation and in-service training for personnel.

  5. Observes and supports all corporate policy.

  6. Participates in departmental quality control and record audits.

  7. Participates in Employee Health Office, Safety Committee and site management meetings.

  8. Requests required maintenance of office and medical equipment.

  9. Notifies the Safety Officer of real or potential safety hazards.

  10. Has detailed knowledge of all applicable emergency procedures (fire drills, internal/external disaster plans and procedures, EMS notification procedures, structure evacuation procedures and medical emergency procedures).

  11. Maintains open lines of communication and timely transmission of information with Director of People & Culture, Location Management, and MRO.

  12. Functions at Montana’s level and scope of practice for the Registered Professional Nurse.

  13. Leads the emergency medical response team until a higher level of emergency medical care arrives on site.

  14. Communicates to medical control pertinent details of the nursing assessment and planning interventions for each medical encounter.

  15. Accurately and promptly implements MRO’s orders.

  16. Maintains the standards of accurate, complete recording and reporting.

  17. Supports and enforces all infection-control policies and procedures.

  18. Initiates, implements and re-evaluates the nursing care plan for each employee who presents for treatment.

  19. Provides employee health & wellness training when needed.

  20. Responsible for stocking and maintenance of first aid stations.

  21. Orders supplies in order to maintain stock at par levels.

  22. Assists in other departments and with other duties are assigned.
