  • Front End Manager

    Front End
    Position:  Front End Manager
    Reports to: Store manager and owners
    Status: Year-round, full-time / non-exempt
    Pay: $15-20/hour DOE

    Summary Description:
    Be part of a thriving, locally-owned business that is situated at the north entrance to Yellowstone National Park. The Gardiner Market provides for the grocery needs of Gardiner, Montana and millions of visitors that visit Yellowstone each year. We strive to provide the freshest, best quality products to customers and to create a welcoming atmosphere for customers. This position is responsible for overseeing the front-end, training, supervising, and assisting in the hiring of front-end staff.
     
    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty with accuracy and maintain a high level of productivity. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.     1. Exhibit and develop maximum customer relations through a friendly and courteous behavior. 
    2. Promote a high level of morale within department and store, utilizing friendly but professional methods of honest and open communication. 
    3. Maintain good working relationships with other department managers with objective of improving sales storewide.
    4. Comply with all company policies, programs and directives as specified in the Code of Conduct.
    5. Provide professional example for other store team members to follow. 
    6. Performs team member evaluations and any disciplinary issues effectively and timely.  Maintains consistency between team members when administering these functions.
    7. Ensures team members are continually communicated with and properly trained regarding all related functions of their job responsibilities as: Proper handling of guest checks, over-rings, refunds, security issues, counting of register funds, guest services, price changes, location of store products, produce codes, etc.
    8. Is aware of Ad items, special prices, coupon deals or other features that apply to the store’s sales program. Always communicates the information to the front-end.
    9. Immediately notifies proper personnel of any pricing errors or items not found in file.
    10. Provides a professional example for other store team members to follow.
    11. Establishes and monitors team member work schedules to ensure maximum guest service, productivity and efficiency. This includes continually observing the front-end for proper coverage during high volume times and ensuring additional help as needed.
    12. Ensures the availability, control and proper use of front-end supplies as: bags, register tapes, office forms, cleaning supplies, etc. within established budgets and guidelines.
    13. Supports Store Manager and Owners in tasks assigned.
     
    Basic Qualifications: 
    • Fluent in written and spoken English
    • Possess a friendly and welcoming attitude
    • Minimum age of 18 years old as the Gardiner Market is a state liquor store
    • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with internal and external audiences
    • Demonstrated experience in fast-paced retail environment
    • Demonstrated ability to train others in policies and procedures
    • Able to perform a variety of tasks, often changing from one task to another while remaining calm
    • Ability to perform physical aspects of the job, including lifting items up to 40 pounds to waist height, standing for entire shift, bending, kneeling, and crouching
    • Willingness to help other managers and departments as needed with a positive attitude
    • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays
    • Represent the Gardiner Market in a courteous and professional manner
     
    Preferred Qualifications:
    • 2 – 3 years’ experience in retail management
    • Experience working with international staff
     
    Compensation:
    This is a year-round, full-time, non-exempt position based in Gardiner, Montana. The hourly rate is based upon experience, with overtime paid for hours in excess of 40 hours a week. Year-round employees are eligible for performance bonuses, a 10% discount on groceries and general merchandise, paid time off, holidays, health, vision, life, and accident insurance, as well as an Employee Assistance Program.

    Reports to: Store manager and owners
    Status: Year-round, full-time / non-exempt
    Pay: $15-20/hour DOE

    Summary Description:

The Gardiner Market provides for the grocery needs of Gardiner, Montana and millions of visitors that visit Yellowstone each year. This position is responsible for evening oversight of the store, primarily  the front-end.

  • Cashier/Stocker

    Year-Round or Seasonal Cashier–Front End/Stocker
    Reports to: Front End Manager and Stocker Manager
    Status: Part or full-time / non-exempt

    Summary Description:

The Gardiner Market provides for the grocery needs of Gardiner, Montana and millions of visitors that visit Yellowstone each year. Each department prides itself on providing the freshest, best quality products to customers. The Gardiner Market staff provides a welcoming atmosphere while assisting customers in finding the items on their shopping list.

    Cashiers/Stockers work under supervision of front-end managers and the stocker manager. They are expected to strictly adhere to company procedures. Cashiers are not typically required to exercise independent judgment. The successful candidate will have experience in retail, possess an outgoing personality, and will uphold the highest standards of customer service. Ideal candidate will be available April through October.

    Primary Job Duties:

    • Assist customers in locating items throughout the store
    • Sell and bag customer items
    • Process payments and give back correct change
    • Maintain clean work environment
    • Understand and follow directions from supervisors
    • Sell alcohol and tobacco in legal fashion
    • Work night loads on Mondays and Fridays stocking inventory
    • Stock groceries in correct location with correct presentation
    • Check dates to ensure product freshness and quality
    • Maintain proper cold chain on perishable items
    • Assist in food prep areas if required
    • Ask for assistance when needed
    • Other duties as assigned

    Basic Qualifications: 

    • Fluent in written and spoken English
    • Possess a friendly and welcoming attitude
    • Minimum age of 18 years old as the Gardiner Market is a state liquor store (Serve Safe training required within 30 days of hire)
    • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with internal and external audiences
    • Demonstrated experience in fast-paced retail environment
    • Working knowledge of American currency and ability to accept payments and process change
    • Able to perform a variety of tasks, often changing from one task to another while remaining calm
    • Ability to perform physical aspects of the job, including lifting items up to 40 pounds to waist height, standing for entire shift, bending, kneeling, and crouching
    • Willingness to help in other departments as needed with a positive attitude
    • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays

    Must be able to: 

    • Understand and follow directions
    • Stand for full shift, 8 hours at a time

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Prior retail experience or similar environment to develop customer service skills

    Compensation:

    This is a non-exempt position based in Gardiner, Montana. The hourly rate is based upon experience, with overtime paid for hours in excess of 40 hours a week. Affordable housing in Gardiner is available. Seasonal employees are eligible for performance bonuses, and a 5% discount on groceries and general merchandise. Full-time employees are eligible for performance and holiday bonuses, health, vision, and accident insurance, paid time off, and a 10% discount on groceries and general merchandise.

  • Grocery Food Prep Clerk

    Grocery Food Prep Clerk- Summer Seasonal April thru October 2022

    Position: Grocery Clerk
    Reports to: Department Manager
    Status: Seasonal, full-time / non-exempt

    Summary Description:

The Gardiner Market provides for the grocery needs of Gardiner, Montana and millions of visitors that visit Yellowstone each year. Each department prides itself on providing the freshest, best quality products to customers. The Gardiner Market staff provides a welcoming atmosphere while assisting customers in finding the items on their shopping list.

    Grocery clerks are responsible for a variety of tasks. Depending on the assigned department, these tasks will include baking and packaging fresh baked goods, slicing and preparing produce for sale, and/or cutting and wrapping meat. Grocery clerks are devoted to the freshness and appearance of food items, while providing high quality customer service. Grocery clerks work under the supervision of the appropriate department manager, or other designated management. Ideal candidate will be available April through October.

    Primary Job Duties:

    • Provide excellent customer service, to include greeting the customer and answering questions
    • Prepare and finish products for sale
    • Package and label product for self-service
    • Maintain and stock department shelves in public views, ensuring a visually appealing appearance of products to customers
    • Receive and fill special orders
    • Safely and efficiently use equipment (oven, slicer, knives, food processor, etc.)
    • Unload, organize, and restock supplies
    • Follow sanitation and safety procedures
    • Be a member of a collaborative, team-oriented environment
    • Other tasks as assigned by department manager, or other designated management

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Fluent in written and spoken English
    • Possess a friendly and welcoming attitude
    • Keen ability to understand and follow instructions
    • Experience completing  job duties in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
    • Ability to perform physical aspects of the job, including lifting items up to 40 pounds to waist height, standing for entire shift, bending, kneeling, and crouching
    • Willingness to maintain food safety certifications
    • Must be at least 18 years of age due to equipment used to complete job duties
    • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays
    • Represent the Gardiner Market in a courteous and professional manner

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience marketing products in public areas that boost sales
    • Experience in a food service industry, including food safety certification
    • Evidence of ability to multitask, while being detail oriented
    • 1-2 years of experience in one or more of the following departments: meat department, produce department, or bakery department
