  • Cashier/Stocker-Year-Round or Seasonal

    Gardiner

    Position: Cashier–Front End/Stocker
    Reports to: Front End Manager and Stocker Manager
    Status: Part or full-time / non-exempt

    Summary Description:

The Gardiner Market provides for the grocery needs of Gardiner, Montana and millions of visitors that visit Yellowstone each year. Each department prides itself on providing the freshest, best quality products to customers. The Gardiner Market staff provides a welcoming atmosphere while assisting customers in finding the items on their shopping list.

    Cashiers/Stockers work under supervision of front-end managers and the stocker manager. They are expected to strictly adhere to company procedures. Cashiers are not typically required to exercise independent judgment. The successful candidate will have experience in retail, possess an outgoing personality, and will uphold the highest standards of customer service. Ideal candidate will be available April through October.

    Primary Job Duties:

    • Assist customers in locating items throughout the store
    • Sell and bag customer items
    • Process payments and give back correct change
    • Maintain clean work environment
    • Understand and follow directions from supervisors
    • Sell alcohol and tobacco in legal fashion
    • Work night loads on Mondays and Fridays stocking inventory
    • Stock groceries in correct location with correct presentation
    • Check dates to ensure product freshness and quality
    • Maintain proper cold chain on perishable items
    • Assist in food prep areas if required
    • Ask for assistance when needed
    • Other duties as assigned

     

    Basic Qualifications: 

    • Fluent in written and spoken English
    • Possess a friendly and welcoming attitude
    • Minimum age of 18 years old as the Gardiner Market is a state liquor store (Serve Safe training required within 30 days of hire)
    • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with internal and external audiences
    • Demonstrated experience in fast-paced retail environment
    • Working knowledge of American currency and ability to accept payments and process change
    • Able to perform a variety of tasks, often changing from one task to another while remaining calm
    • Ability to perform physical aspects of the job, including lifting items up to 40 pounds to waist height, standing for entire shift, bending, kneeling, and crouching
    • Willingness to help in other departments as needed with a positive attitude
    • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays
    • Represent the Gardiner Market in a courteous and professional manner

     

    Must be able to: 

    • Understand and follow directions
    • Stand for full shift, 8 hours at a time
    • Lift boxes up to 40 pounds up to waist-height
    • Bend and kneel to stock shelves
    • Work on a team in a fast-paced environment
    • Adhere to company dress-code and other employee handbook policies

     

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Prior retail experience or similar environment to develop customer service skills

     

    Compensation:

    This is a non-exempt position based in Gardiner, Montana. The hourly rate is based upon experience, with overtime paid for hours in excess of 40 hours a week. Affordable housing in Gardiner is available. Seasonal employees are eligible for performance bonuses, and a 5% discount on groceries and general merchandise. Full-time employees are eligible for performance and holiday bonuses, health, vision, and accident insurance, paid time off, and a 10% discount on groceries and general merchandise.

  • Assistant Manager - Front End

    Position: Assistant Manager – Front End
    Reports to: Store Owners
    Status: Year-round, full-time / non-exempt

The Gardiner Market staff provides a welcoming atmosphere while assisting customers in finding the items on their shopping list.

    The Assistant Manager – Front End is responsible for supervising the front end staff, including cashiers and baggers. The Assistant Manager – Front End coordinates all aspects of the front end operation at the Gardiner Market. This includes scheduling, training, adherence to policy, and addressing customer concerns. The successful candidate will have experience in retail, possess an outgoing personality, and will uphold the highest standards of customer service.

    Primary Job Duties:

    • Ensure operational excellence by overseeing prompt and excellent customer service
    • Ensure accuracy and security of all forms of payment by upholding policies and procedures
    • Resolve customer concerns in a manner in line with store policies
    • Oversee, train, and ensure employees actions are in line with company policy, including opening/closing checklists are completed
    • Assess performance of employees and coach employees to grow in their position
    • Ensure productivity of staff by directing employees to tasks and projects when there are not customers to be checked out
    • Be a member of a collaborative, team-oriented environment
    • Other tasks as assigned by store owners, or other designated management

    Compensation:

    This is a year-round, full-time, non-exempt position based in Gardiner, Montana. The hourly rate is based upon experience, with overtime paid for hours in excess of 40 hours a week.   • Grocery Food Prep Clerk-Summer 2021 Seasonal

    Hiring for Summer 2021 - April thru October

    Position: Grocery Clerk
    Reports to: Department Manager
    Status: Seasonal, full-time / non-exempt

    Summary Description:

The Gardiner Market provides for the grocery needs of Gardiner, Montana and millions of visitors that visit Yellowstone each year. Each department prides itself on providing the freshest, best quality products to customers. The Gardiner Market staff provides a welcoming atmosphere while assisting customers in finding the items on their shopping list.

    Grocery clerks are responsible for a variety of tasks. Depending on the assigned department, these tasks will include baking and packaging fresh baked goods, slicing and preparing produce for sale, and/or cutting and wrapping meat. Grocery clerks are devoted to the freshness and appearance of food items, while providing high quality customer service. Grocery clerks work under the supervision of the appropriate department manager, or other designated management. Ideal candidate will be available April through October.

    Primary Job Duties:

    • Provide excellent customer service, to include greeting the customer and answering questions
    • Prepare and finish products for sale
    • Package and label product for self-service
    • Maintain and stock department shelves in public views, ensuring a visually appealing appearance of products to customers
    • Receive and fill special orders
    • Safely and efficiently use equipment (oven, slicer, knives, food processor, etc.)
    • Unload, organize, and restock supplies
    • Follow sanitation and safety procedures
    • Be a member of a collaborative, team-oriented environment
    • Other tasks as assigned by department manager, or other designated management

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Fluent in written and spoken English
    • Possess a friendly and welcoming attitude
    • Keen ability to understand and follow instructions
    • Experience completing  job duties in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
    • Ability to perform physical aspects of the job, including lifting items up to 40 pounds to waist height, standing for entire shift, bending, kneeling, and crouching
    • Willingness to maintain food safety certifications
    • Must be at least 18 years of age due to equipment used to complete job duties
    • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays
    • Represent the Gardiner Market in a courteous and professional manner

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience marketing products in public areas that boost sales
    • Experience in a food service industry, including food safety certification
    • Evidence of ability to multitask, while being detail oriented
    • 1-2 years of experience in one or more of the following departments: meat department, produce department, or bakery department

    This is a summer-seasonal, non-exempt position based in Gardiner, Montana. The hourly rate is based upon experience, with overtime paid for hours in excess of 40 hours a week.   • Assistant Produce Manager

    Reports to: Produce Department Manager, Store Owners
    Status: Year-round, full-time / non-exempt

    The Assistant Produce Manager will learn and perform all ordering, cleaning and sanitation, safety, and stocking procedures on all produce products as outlined by the company and directed by management. The Assistant Produce Manager is devoted to the freshness and appearance of food items, while providing high quality customer service. 

    Primary Job Duties:

    • Help create a culture of food exploration, innovation, and education for customers and employees
    • Prepare, cook, and finish products for sale, package and label products for self-service
    • Stock, rotate and face product in public views, prevent shrink and product damage while ensuring a visually appealing presentation to customers
    • Assist with ordering product to ensure adequate supply and to maintain product quality, freshness, and proper variety
    • Perform receiving duties including: breaking down loads, cutting cases, stacking, pricing and marking merchandise, organizing cooler and storage areas and refrigerating products immediately
    • Help to ensure cost, quality, and inventory control through verifying orders against invoices, auditing contents of product cases, and reporting shortages and claims to ensure proper billing
    • Receive and fill special orders
    • Ensure quality of goods by following code dating procedures. Prevent the sale of outdated products
    • Maintain the department cleanliness and follow sanitation procedures
    • Follow company merchandising schematics and proper signage procedures
    • Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers are maintained and temperature logs are maintained.
    • Safely and efficiently use equipment (oven, slicer, knives, smoker, etc.)
    • Other duties as assigned by department manager or other designated management

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Fluent in written and spoken English
    • Possess a friendly and welcoming attitude
    • Self motivated, trustworthy, with the strong desire to learn and take direction
    • Ability to work unsupervised
    • Experience completing job duties in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
    • Ability to perform physical aspects of the job, including lifting up to 60 pounds to waist height, standing for entire shift, bending, kneeling, and crouching
    • Ability to obtain and maintain food safety certification
    • Must be at least 18 years of age due to equipment used to complete job duties
    • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays

    Preferred Skills and Qualifications

    • Ability to multitask, while being detail oriented
    • Experience marketing products in public areas that boost sales
    • 1-2 years of experience working in the food service industry
