  • Human Resources Manager

    Gardiner, Montana

    This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a thriving, locally-owned business at the north entrance to Yellowstone National Park. We're looking for a strong HR Manager to help implement our vision of a fun, safe, and socially resposble workplace that grows our employees, serves our customers, and supports our community.

    The Human Resources Manager will maintain and enhance the organization's human resources by planning, implementing, and evaluating employee relations and store policies, programs, and practices. They work closely with staff and customers to ensure effectiveness of training, maintenance of store culture, and to asses store needs. They will work closely with owners on staffing needs, policy revisions and implementation, and strategic planning.

    Successful applicant will have a minimum of three-years Human Resources Management in retail environment. 

    Core Job Duties:

    • Maintain staff by recruiting, selecting, scheduling, orienting, and training employees.
    • Maintain job results by counseling and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring and appraising job results; conducting and analyzing exit interviews; recommending and implementing changes.
    • Work on retail floor to ensure efficacy of hiring strategy, training process and procedures, and asses needs.
    • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
    • Maintain staffing structure by updating job requirements and job descriptions for all positions; establishing and conducting orientation and training programs.
    • Ensure planning, monitoring, and appraisal of employee work results by training managers to coach and discipline employees; scheduling management conferences with employees; hearing and resolving employee grievances; counseling employees and supervisors.
    • Maintain a pay plan by conducting periodic pay surveys; scheduling and conducting job evaluations; preparing pay budgets; monitoring and scheduling individual pay actions; recommending, planning, and implementing pay structure revisions.

    Ideal Candidate Will Also:

    • Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource federal and state requirements; conducting investigations; maintaining records; representing the organization at hearings.
    • Maintain management guidelines by preparing, updating, and recommending policies and procedures.
    • Maintain current and historical human resource records in scheduling/pay software as well as employee files.
    • Maintain professional and technical knowledge

    Compensation:

    This is a year-round, salaried, exempt position based in Gardiner, Montana. Affordable housing in Gardiner may be available. Year-round employees are eligible for performance bonuses, a 10% discount on groceries and general merchandise. In addition, year-round, full-time employees receive 100% employer paid health insurance.

  • Assistant Manager - Front End

    Gardiner, Montana

    Position: Assistant Manager – Front End
    Reports to: Store Owners
    Status: Year-round, full-time / non-exempt

    Summary Description:

    Be part of a thriving, locally-owned business that is situated at the north entrance to Yellowstone National Park. The Gardiner Market provides for the grocery needs of Gardiner, Montana and millions of visitors that visit Yellowstone each year. Each department prides itself on providing the freshest, best quality products to customers. The Gardiner Market staff provides a welcoming atmosphere while assisting customers in finding the items on their shopping list.

    The Assistant Manager – Front End is responsible for supervising the front end staff, including cashiers and baggers. The Assistant Manager – Front End coordinates all aspects of the front end operation at the Gardiner Market. This includes scheduling, training, adherence to policy, and addressing customer concerns. The successful candidate will have experience in retail, possess an outgoing personality, and will uphold the highest standards of customer service.

    Primary Job Duties:

    • Ensure operational excellence by overseeing prompt and excellent customer service
    • Ensure accuracy and security of all forms of payment by upholding policies and procedures
    • Resolve customer concerns in a manner in line with store policies
    • Oversee, train, and ensure employees actions are in line with company policy, including opening/closing checklists are completed
    • Assess performance of employees and coach employees to grow in their position
    • Ensure productivity of staff by directing employees to tasks and projects when there are not customers to be checked out
    • Be a member of a collaborative, team-oriented environment
    • Other tasks as assigned by store owners, or other designated management

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Fluent in written and spoken English
    • Possess a friendly and welcoming attitude
    • Minimum age of 18 years old as the Gardiner Market is a state liquor store
    • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with internal and external audiences
    • Demonstrated experience in fast-paced retail environment
    • Demonstrated ability to train others in policies and procedures
    • Able to perform a variety of tasks, often changing from one task to another while remaining calm
    • Ability to perform physical aspects of the job, including lifting items up to 40 pounds to waist height, standing for entire shift, bending, kneeling, and crouching
    • Willingness to help other managers and departments as needed with a positive attitude
    • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays
    • Represent the Gardiner Market in a courteous and professional manner

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • 2 – 3 years’ experience in retail management
    • Experience working with international staff

    Compensation:

    This is a year-round, full-time, non-exempt position based in Gardiner, Montana. The hourly rate is based upon experience, with overtime paid for hours in excess of 40 hours a week.
