Hiking Guide is accountable for, but not limited to:
- Leading guests of all ages on organized and informative excursions
- Educating themselves on the local ecology, geology, history, and culture so that they are well-prepared to interpret these aspects of the area to the guest
- Outline the hiking schedule
- Reporting for work ready for the hike with the essential gear needed.
- Make sure that both the First Aid kit, radio, and the cell phone are on their person.
- Greeting each guest, brief them on the plans for the activity and provide transportation to the hikes.
- Give a detailed safety briefing and assess each guest on their ability to participate in the activity.
- Maintaining control and leadership over the activity and providing valuable interpretive knowledge for the guests.
- Being prepared to perform the duties of support staff when hikes are not scheduled.
- Safely operating a 15-passenger van on local roads and highways – MUST BE 21 YEARS OLD
- Maintaining a positive and professional approach with fellow staff and guests.
- Willingness to help in other departments or wherever needed on the Ranch
- Responsible for other duties as assigned
- Must be capable of being on your feet for up to 8 hours a day, as well as lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.
- This position reports to the Outdoor Pursuits Manager
Compensation package at FLL: Hourly wage starting at $11 plus overtime, a full share in the TIP pool paid out every two weeks along with payroll (historically averages $14 per hour), Staff housing and/or meals provided for a nominal fee, Free laundry facilities & Wi-Fi, Access to all in-house activities offered to Guests, Gift shop & Family discounts, Monthly hosted staff events and FLL swag!
