SWEET OR SAVORY COOKING JOB in sunny Arizona

Seeking a cook to join our team asap at Elkhorn Ranch, southwest of Tucson, Arizona.  We are a family owned and operated winter season guest ranch that welcomes about 32 guests.  Our crew of 20 plus our family all live and work on the ranch.  The job is open immediately and lasts through the end of April 2024.  To learn more about our culinary approach, check out the dining page at our website.  

Why the weird title?  We have a fantastic kitchen and dining room crew this season, but we are short a cook.  This job could focus on lunch and dinner savory cooking or focus on baking.  Either way, we seek a person with competency in both areas and extra flair and depth of experience in one of the roles.  Also our cooking team this year is operating truly as a team, such that everyone helps out some with pots and pans.  Our chef is a great teacher (as evidenced by the fact that our kitchen assistant has evolved into breakfast cooking) and is 100% present and hands on in the kitchen all day;  but he needs someone with solid skills and commitment to back him up on his day off and team with him on a daily basis.  Paying careful attention to dietary preferences and allergies and developing creative solutions is an important part of the job.  Our plan is to adjust the task list and work timing to fit the skill set of our new cook.  

You’ll have your own room and share a bathroom.  Salary is $800 per week, full room and board, and bonus at completion of season (for all who complete the season).  The ranch has great hiking trails and you can enjoy horseback riding in your free time.  We are over an hour from Tucson, so enjoying rural living is important.
