Job starts soon! (Sep 15, 2019)

This position is shared by two people at all times (each in separate housing).  The positions are available for two time periods, September 15th through January 15th or January 16th through May 15th.

Completion bonus in addition to monthly pay.

The WINTER CARETAKER job mostly entails being on property to make sure the systems are operating properly & doing less than two hours of daily checks. Since we have two caretakers, it works out well so one can take off into town and get fresh supplies, or explore the island, while the other caretaker remains on property.

Winters in this rain forest environment are usually pretty mild with occasional snowstorms, but normal weather is rain with some wind storms.  This job is best suited for someone that enjoys being mostly alone and is a self-entertainer with common sense abilities.

There is dry and frozen food leftover from the summer season that is provided to caretakers. Any fresh produce and dairy can be purchased by caretakers in the towns of Craig or Klawock.

Each of the caretaker facilities has 24-hour power, modern furnaces that rarely have an issue, satellite TV, & internet. This is best suited for someone who is looking for a period of the year to have provided housing and is looking to experience a new adventure in the Last Frontier.  The lodge property is connected to a very good paved road system that is plowed and maintained by the State of Alaska. The setting of the lodge facility is on the ocean and offers a feeling of being remote with the convenience of a road system and a locked private gate one mile from the lodge. The largest towns of Craig and Klawock are about an hour drive from the lodge.

Potential applicants choosing to do some research on the lodge and Prince of Wales Island can do so by visiting the lodge website and by Googling "Prince of Wales Island Alaska"
