Easterseals Camps serve individuals with many abilities, varied diagnoses, and needs. Our intentional programs offer campers the opportunity to have fun, make friends, and try new things, all while giving their parents/ caregivers a much-needed break.

About Easterseals Wisconsin

Since 1926, Easterseals Wisconsin has been creating life-changing solutions for individuals with disabilities and their families. Our mission is to increase independence, maximize opportunities, minimize barriers, and enhance the quality of life for people with disabilities.

Easterseals Wisconsin is looking to hire energetic, caring, and hard-working individuals to serve our campers at our two camps in Wisconsin Dells. Camp Wawbeek and Respite Camp provide recreational experiences for campers as young as age three with no upper age limit.

Camp activities range from arts and crafts to zip-lining on our 400ft zip line. All activities are adapted to our campers' needs and provide great skills for those who work here.

Seasonal positions serving as AmeriCorps members, kitchen helpers, and other support positions are open for summer, as well as year-round contracted positions for our school year program.

Ideal Candidate

An AmeriCorps Respite Apprentice provides intensive personal care and supports camper participation of therapeutic recreation activities for individuals with disabilities attending Respite Camp and Camp Wawbeek. Our Respite Apprentices provide purposeful support and service to our camp community, ensuring campers have a successful and enriching experience at our camps!

In addition to the Respite Apprentice position, we are also looking for individuals who would be interested in serving as our Aquatic Specialist, Ropes Specialist, and Program specialist positions.


Room and Board

Room and Board is provided for both AmeriCorps members/staff throughout the summer sessions (May 24th- August 19th). AmeriCorps members/staff are provided shared rooms with shared bath, this is of no cost.

Meals are provided Sunday- Friday during camp sessions.

Employee Perks

AmeriCorps members serving at camp receive a stipend ($2,585) distributed bi-weekly during the term and an Education Award as a member of the AmeriCorps team after successful completion of your term ($3,172.50).

Getting Here and Getting Around

How to Get Here

By Airplane: Madison, Wisconsin has the closest airport to camp. Flying into Milwaukee or Chicago O’Hare may be cheaper, though you will need to catch a bus (either Van Galder or Badger Bus) into Madison. Once you’ve arrived in Madison, camp staff will shuttle you from Madison to camp which is about an hour-long drive.

- Since flights can get delayed, I’d recommend buying your bus ticket upon arriving in Milwaukee or Chicago from the bus driver.

By Train: Amtrak has a depot right in downtown Wisconsin Dells, WI. www.amtrak.com

By Bus: Greyhound has a stop right in downtown Wisconsin Dells, WI. Megabus has a stop in downtown Madison, WI. Camp staff will shuttle people arriving in Madison to camp which is about an hour-long drive. www.greyhound.com

Arrivals/ Contact Info

You are welcome to arrive on Saturday, May 21st, or Sunday, May 22nd - particularly if you arriving by bus, plane, or train. A lot of people are arriving in Madison during this weekend, so you may need to be patient for your pickup from Easterseals Wisconsin staff. We will be in communication with you about your timeframe for being picked up as the date gets closer.

If you are driving in – you can arrive as late as Monday, May 23rd as long as you are ready to start training by 8:00 am.

For Fun

Easterseals Wisconsin Camps sits on over 400 acres of woodland property allowing AmeriCorps members/staff to not only enjoy during sessions with our campers but able to explore during their off-time in between camp sessions. In addition, our camp is located in Wisconsin Dells, WI (the Water Park Capital of the World), surrounded by many Wisconsin State Parks and is about an hour away from the Wisconsin state capitol (Madison, WI).
