About Yellowstone General Stores
As a partner with the National Park Service, we strive to deliver an extraordinary retail experience to more than 4 million Guests that visit the park every year. Our Guests enjoy an amazing array of gifts and keepsakes to take home from their trip as well as serving meals in our Fountain Grills prepared by our hard-working Associates. In addition, our General Stores do offer groceries, equipment and supplies for camping and travel snacking. We want all of our Associates to be able to give our guests an experience in Yellowstone to remember.
We welcome all to spend their summer exploring the more than 1000 miles of hiking trails. In Yellowstone National Park, there are over 40 waterfalls with Canyon Lower Falls being the tallest at 308 feet. Yellowstone has close to 70 species of mammals, 300 species of birds, 16 species of fish and at least 10 amphibians and reptiles species. And...there are over 10,000 hydro-thermal features to visit in the form of hot springs, mud pots, steam vents, and geysers with Old Faithful geyser being the most famous. You may not be able to see all of these extraordinary sites, features & creatures of the Park but in a season...you just might see A LOT of them!
Our Associates enjoy living and working in the Park and while we ask our Associates to work hard as part of the Store team in greeting & serving our guests, we do offer lots of opportunities to get out in the wilderness to explore.
Come live the adventure and join us for an exciting, fun-filled summer in the oldest and most dynamic national park – Yellowstone! Read on for more info on Yellowstone General Stores and our Yellowstone Locations!
The Employee Experience
To see what it's like to spend a summer working for us and living in Yellowstone check out our video! https://vimeo.com/180307747
Our ideal Associate is someone who is outgoing, friendly, flexible and not afraid to work hard. We hope all of our Associates bring a strong work ethic, the ability to learn our processes, and a desire to do their job very well. We have a melting pot of workers from all over the world, different social and economic backgrounds, and different beliefs. It's truly an opportunity to experience different cultures where everyone has two things in common...a sense of adventure and, of course, choosing Yellowstone National Park as your backyard.
Room and Board
Dormitories - The dorms are rustic with centrally located shared bathrooms & showers and we provide free laundry facilities. All Associates will have at least one roommate in the same room and all dorms are non-smoking. While our dorms do not have air conditioning or kitchen facilities, A/C is not necessary and meals are served in the Employee Dining Room. Overnight guests (family & friends) are not permitted in the dorms. Neither are pets of any kind. Dorm housing costs start at $27 per week.
RV Sites- For Associates planning to bring their own RV, we provide sites starting at $33 per week. RV site cost depends on your assigned location. Electric and propane is paid by the Associate(s). Most Employee RV areas have onsite coin-operated laundry facilities as well as common bathroom/shower house available. Due to unpredictable weather, RV associates arriving before May 1 may be placed at a temporary site without hookups/utilities.
Meals - All Associates in the Park interior are provided meals in the Employee Dining Room (EDR). Dorm residents are required to participate in the meal plan & RV residents have the option to participate. Each EDR operates on a menu cycle and provides three meals a day, seven days a week. The menu is designed to offer a variety of food choices, but unfortunately, we are not normally able to accommodate special dietary needs. The cost for the meal plan is $61.00 per week. We do not allow pay per meal plans.
Internet - Most dorms have both a computer with Internet access and a television with satellite service. Internet service is provided via satellite and is extremely limited. It is slow, unreliable, and has a daily threshold of information that can be downloaded. There is a 24-hour reset period if the daily download threshold is crossed and during this time the Internet connection will not work. It's sad to say but, if you "need" daily access to the Internet...Yellowstone may not be the best fit for you. Yellowstone National Park is remote and the draw to the Park is nature.
Telephones - Cell phone service is intermittent or non-existent at many park locations. Verizon and AT&T tend to have the best reception in West Yellowstone, but reception is further limited in the park with no service in many locations. We recommend bringing a pre-paid calling card as there are pay telephones in each dormitory.
