Cycle Alaska is a Tour and rental company, as well as a year-round bicycle shop with sales and service. Our mission statement, “We create great memories for our Guests,” is something that we pride ourselves on and we do this through Bicycle tours. Cycle Alaska operates two set and custom tours in Juneau, Alaska during the summer season. The most popular tour we offer is the Bike and Brew Glacier View tour. It’s about 8.5 miles long through the Mendenhall Valley area and finishes up with a beer tasting downtown. Our second tour, the Bike, and Tram tour takes place on Douglas Island and continues with the Guests enjoying Mt. Roberts Tramway.
We are looking for a fun, hardworking, detail orientated and responsible person to lead our Tour Operations. This person must be able to multitask, handle pressure, be an effective/timely communicator and work as a team player. The right candidate must have some supervisory experience and preferred, experience in the tourism industry.
The Tour and Rental Operations Manager is a year-round position with 3 unpaid months off. Employment is from February through October, with 3 unpaid months being November, December, and January. During the off-season (February, March, April, and October), this person will assist in tour planning, scheduling, hiring, and training programs, as well as assist the retail shop with sales, projects and other tasks assigned by the General Manager.
Job responsibilities, but not limited to:
- Supervising Drivers and Guides (up to 25 total)
- Responsible for organizing, setting up and doing a daily schedule of tours
- Communicating with Cruise lines and partner vendors daily through email/phones
- Oversee the rentals, scheduling and setting up of bikes
- Ensure that all tours are run properly and on time, help with set-up, dock rep and settling when needed.
- Help on the retail floor with sales, phones, stocking, etc.
- Keep an organized and clean tour/shop space
- Monitor and maintain equipment
