Help us raise funds to support people with disabilities, and experience southeast Alaska while you're at it.

This is a one-year full-time position thru the AmeriCorps VISTA program.

Job Responsibilities
Community Connections is seeking an AmeriCorps VISTA member to raise at least $10,000 in funds, and implement fundraising systems, including but not limited to grant writing, community donations and events, donor tracking, and marketing materials.

There have been recent cuts in home and community-based services thru Medicaid and State of Alaska grants. Many low-income people have had services reduced, or have been thrown out of services entirely due to this reduced eligibility, which has deleterious results such as increased instances of homelessness. In order to offset these cuts, we must diversify our funding streams. Diversified funding will help us to fill in the gaps in services that the State no longer covers, such as home and community-based services, and will allow us to maintain the level of service we currently provide to disadvantaged individuals in these remote southeast Alaska communities.

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Marketing, Business, Communications, Non-profit Management, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field). 1-3 years of experience in non-profit management, resource development, marketing, public relations, communications or a related field preferred.

Skills
Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and WordPress. Video and image editing skills are a plus. Ability to prioritize duties while multi-tasking, strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to relate to client, staff, and stakeholders. Self-motivated and punctual; Creative and professional. Outgoing and willing to make contact with unfamiliar prospects. Ability to achieve goals with minimal supervision.

This position is funded through the national and state AmeriCorps VISTA program. This position does not receive an hourly wage but a benefit package that includes: monthly living allowance ($1,333), relocation costs ($0.34/mile up to $1000) and settling in allowance ($550), health benefits, child care assistance, training, and an Education Award ($5,815) or cash stipend ($1,500) and a multitude of training opportunities. In addition, there may be a possible reduced rent shared housing opportunity with other Ketchikan VISTAs.
