The Colorado Outward Bound School (COBS) is a non-profit expeditionary school that emphasizes personal growth through challenge and experience. For over 60 years, our wilderness courses have focused on teaching teens and young adults responsibility, teamwork, confidence, compassion, and stewardship.
We operate out of basecamps in both Leadville, Colorado and Moab, Utah. The wilderness is our classroom. Our expedition areas include the Colorado Rockies, Utah's Canyon Country, Southern Wyoming, and beyond.

Room and Board
COBS does offer a variety of housing-based positions, length of work agreement, and location. Meals are provided while on a current work agreement.
Employee Perks
As a COBS employee, you are eligible for prodeal access, and opportunity for staff development expeditions or certifications. On-site housing and meals, employee assistance program, 56 hours of sick time per year, personal and family tuition benefits, in-house training, conferences and continued growth opportunities.
Getting Here and Getting Around
Housing for both Moab, UT and Leadville, CO is located on the base. Both basecamps are located approximately 10 miles from both Moab and Leadville.
For Fun
Both basecamps offer nearby wilderness access, bike trails, rivers, national parks, and Colorado 14ners. Employees share a community filled with like-minded individuals excited to recreate outdoors, hold shared conversations and adventures. At COBS individuals are always welcome to bring their passions and share with the community.
