Canyon Kitchen seeks a talented and motivated Sous Chef to lead and guide the back of house operations. Working cohesively with Food & Beverage Manager and Executive Chef to execute an unforgettable guest experience. We are not only a dynamic team, but a family who carry each other.

Sous Chef Position Summary:

The Sous Chef responsibilities include but are not limited to, the management of the back of house kitchen staff to create excellent food. An expertise in product knowledge and implementing Canyon Kitchen standards. Ability to manage staff during dinner service, private and resident event operations. Works closely with the Executive Chef, Food and Beverage Manager and restaurant employees to ensure every guest and resident enjoys a creative, satisfying dining experience in an unhurried and uniquely, stunning setting.

Sous Chef Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manages back of house staff including, training, evaluating and education
  • Ability to monitor and control Inventory, Food and Labor Cost, Ordering, and Scheduling
  • Ability to collaborate, test, and execute new menu ideas and items
  • Ensures consistency in staff uniforms, personal appearance and hygiene
  • Collaborates and interacts cohesively with all management and other department leaders
  • Works in harmony with Food and Beverage managers for restaurant execution
  • Establishes goals for back of house staff
  • Ensures all staff are properly trained to exceed the needs of guests and residents
  • Communicates daily with staff on specials, goals, and events
  • Operates within all State and Federal laws and regulations
  • Knowledge of fundamental cooking techniques, experience with a wide variety of cuisines, and knife skills
  • Serve Safe certified preferred

Sous Chef Other Necessary Skills:

  • Attention to detail
  • Necessary “five star” food and beverage service etiquette and policies
  • Ability to develop relationships with guests and Lonesome Valley residents
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and policies
  • Has the ability conduct staff training and retain premier employees
  • Skilled in communicating effectively to employees, guests and residents

Sous Chef Experience Required:

  • 2 to 3 years of supervisory experience
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • High School Diploma
  • HACCP knowledge a plus
