About Camp Timberlake

Camp Timberlake is a traditional, Christian boys summer camp located high in the mountains of western North Carolina. Our mission is for all our campers to experience the Gospel through friendship and adventure. We are hiring summer staff to provide top of the industry instruction in their craft and be outstanding Christian role models for kids.

Our activity leaders instruct in their discipline each day on our 200+ acre campus, working with beginners through advanced students. Additionally, instructors will lead 1-2 off-site excursions per week in their field. These instructors live in a cabin with 1-2 other instructors and 12 campers. These folks are excited about helping campers develop a passion for their activity and also helping the campers in their cabin grow spiritually in conjunction with our Christian dynamic.

Some of the great activities we offer at camp include Backpacking, Rock Climbing, Canoeing, Kayaking, Fly Fishing, Mountain Biking, Archery, Riflery, Team sports, airsoft, and much more. Join us this summer!

The Employee Experience

There's no better place to spend a summer than at Camp Timberlake! Our staff builds close bonds with one another on our tight-knit team as they work hard helping campers grow through friendship and adventure. Our staff takes one day off and one additional night off per week, during which they can enjoy nearby Asheville and all that the great outdoors has to offer here in western NC. Some favorite spots include paddling the green river, climbing in Linville gorge, and hiking on the mountains to sea trail. Whether it's an all-day adventure or all day in your favorite coffee shop, staff return from time off rested and ready for more camp action.

Ideal Candidate

Our ideal candidate is somebody who is excited about being a great role model for kids and helping them grow during their time at camp. They are passionate, competent, and fun-loving folks who are eager to learn new skills and be a part of a team.

New employees must be available to work from June 1 to August 13.
Staff must be at least 18 years old

Staff must be a US Citizen or documented as legally eligible to work in the United States

Room and Board

All room and board is covered at camp. We do not cover transportation to camp, but once you arrive here at Timberlake, all food and housing is covered for the entire season.

Employee Perks

All staff members enjoy free room and board for the summer in addition to a day off and night off each week. Many of our local outfitters offer discounts to camp staff as well.

Getting Here and Getting Around

We recommend that staff members bring a personal car, but it is not required. We are also able to pick up staff who fly into the Asheville airport, which is the closest airport to camp.

For Fun

It's hard to beat Western North Carolina and there is a reason Asheville is one of the nation's top tourist destinations each year. Our staff enjoys both the city and the mountains during their time off. So whether it's mountain biking down Kitsuma, summitting Mount Mitchell, or taking in the music at the drum circle, there's something for every counselor to enjoy.

How to Apply

The first step for any counselor is to apply online here. Once you have completed your online application, we will reach out to schedule a zoom interview with our director. This interview usually lasts 45 minutes to an hour. After your interview, we will conduct background/sex offender checks, contact your references and then be back in touch soon.
