About Camp Manito-Wish YMCA

Generations of people tell us that their Manito-wish experience is one of their most enduring and treasured memories, culminating in lifelong friendships, unparalleled leadership and resiliency. Camp Manito-wish YMCA brings over 100 years of advancing transformational personal and group development through our renown summer camp program, our time-tested wilderness tripping program, and our distinctive collaborative leadership development program. The impact these three elements of our community have on each camper we serve is matched by our commitment to the growth and personal development of each staff member we collaborate with to build incomparable experiences for youth.

The Employee Experience

Through dynamic, inclusive opportunities in our Summer Camp, Outpost Wilderness Trips, and Leadership Programs as well as health, food and support services, you’ll be instrumental in helping youth grow in stature, confidence and character, shaping them into tomorrow’s leaders. In the process, you’ll gain the same invaluable skills and unique experiences that will translate impressively to your resume, and help you excel in your future career.

Summer Camp employees, whether you enjoy a wilderness excursion, cabin life or teaching in activity areas, will spend the summer mentoring 5th-10th grade youth in a variety of ways. We have two 3-week sessions, Boys Camp in mid-June to early-July and Girls Camp in late-July to mid-August as well as two Family Camp sessions between Boys and Girls Camp. Full or partial summer opportunities are available.

Leadership Program staff focus on team building, initiatives and challenge course facilitation. Our leadership facilitators have employment options that allow you to work with school groups (middle school through college) and youth serving agencies on a year-round or seasonal basis.

Ideal Candidate

Our participants are taught humility, empathy, awareness of self and others, resourcefulness, resilience, optimism, adaptability and responsibility. Since the very beginning of Manito-wish, these qualities have proven vital to encouraging personal growth and positive transformations. They’re the building blocks of character that provide a solid foundation for leadership. Our staff members are expected to exhibit these traits as well as encourage them in our participants.

If you enjoy working closely with others, are open to new experiences, like to share your time and talents, and have a desire to positively impact the lives of youth – we want to hear from you!
