  • Waterfront Director

    Camp Zanika Lache
    up to $550.00 / week

    Reporting to the Assistant Director of Programs, the Waterfront Director is responsible for planning, directing and supervising Camp Zanika's Waterfront Program. 

    Pay is $550 per week, includes meals and housing. FLSA Section 13(a)(3)

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Training and experience in waterfront activities and management.
    • Current Water Safety Instructors Certificate and/or Lifeguard training from the American Red Cross, YMCA, BSA, or H20 Pro
    • Current CPR and First Aid certification.
    • Ability to schedule and supervise staff.
    • At least 21 years of age.

    SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Set up waterfront area during staff training.
    2. Teach staff their responsibilities in waterfront activities during staff training.
    3. Teach and monitor the proper use of equipment.
    4. Conduct initial and end-of-season inventory and store equipment for safety.
    5. Check equipment and make (or request) repairs.
    6. Conduct daily check of area and equipment for safety, cleanliness, and good repair.
    7. Award recognition and participation certificates for special events.
    8. Evaluate aquatics abilities of staff and campers.
    9. Plan and work with others during special events.
    10. Assist in packing all materials and supplies at the end of the season.
    11. Evaluate current season and make suggestions for the following season.
    12. These are not the only duties to be performed. Duties may be reassigned and other duties may be assigned as required
  • Tripping Director

    Camp Zanika Lache
    up to $450.00 / week

    Reporting to the Assistant Camp Director of Programs, the Trip and Travel Director is responsible for planning, directing and supervising the camp's tripping program.

    Pay is $450 per week, includes meals and housing. FLSA Section 13(a)(3)

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Training and experience in tripping activities.
    • Basic knowledge of backpacking, Leave No Trace, and ability to teach skills to staff and campers of all ages.
    • Current CPR and first aid certifications and Wilderness First Aid certification.
    • Desire and ability to work with children outdoors.
    • Knowledge of the North Central Washington back country (preferred)
    • Current Driver’s License and good driving record.
    • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age

    SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:   

    1. Set up backpacking and equipment area during staff training.
    2. Teach and monitor proper use of equipment.
    3. Conduct initial and end-of-season inventory, and store equipment for safety.
    4. Check equipment and make arrangements for necessary repairs as needed.
    5. Help plan trips based on camper's skills, ability, and interest.
    6. Teach campers and staff Minimum Impact Camping and Zanika Lache’s Operating Procedures for all day and overnight trips.
    7. Assist in packing all equipment and supplies at end of season.
    8. Participate in weekly staff meetings.   
    9. Promptly complete camp evaluations.

  • Cabin Counselor

    Camp Zanika Lache
    up to $425.00 / week

    Reporting to the Unit Director and the Assistant Camp Director of Counseling, the Cabin Counselors is responsible for the general program and living activities of six to eight youth in their assigned cabin group.

    Pay is $425 per week, includes meals and housing. FLSA Section 13(a)(3)

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • High School graduate.
    • 18 years old and older preferred
    • Current CPR and First Aid, Wilderness First Aid is preferred.
    • Desire and ability to work with children.
    • Experience in camping activities.
    • Good character, integrity, adaptability and enthusiasm.
    • A good example for youth in appearance, attitudes, and moral and ethical behavior.

    SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

    1. Responsible for the supervision of campers, including health habits, and health checks
    2. Interprets safety and health regulations to their group. Is on the alert for any sign of illness or fatigue, accidents and reports immediately to the Nurse or Medic.
    3. Complete accident/incident reports as necessary.
    4. Plans, develops, and coordinates programs with campers.
    5. Guide’s camper's in activities and helps them adjust to camp life and make friends.
    6. Assists with program activities and other activities in his/her specific unit.
    7. Works with the Unit Director and other staff in improving a specific part of the cabin program planning.
    8. Observes and shares with campers: quiet hour, camp kapers, camp meals, camp flag, All camp and other camp activities.
    9. Assumes responsibility for care of facilities, equipment and supplies. Keeps cabin clean and neat
  • Lifeguard

    up to $400.00 / week

    Camp Zanika is a youth summer camp that provides children, grades 1-12, an opportunity to live beneath the trees, learn under the stars and experience the wonder of the great outdoors. On the shores of beautiful Lake Wenatchee, Camp Zanika is the ideal location for kids to learn new skills, have fun, and make friends & memories that will last a lifetime.

    Reporting to the Waterfront Director, Lifeguards are responsible for teaching, supervising and helping coordinate Camp Zanika's waterfront program. Help Maintain standards that lead to a quality program

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Training and experience in waterfront activities

    • Current Lifeguard Training or equivalent Certification

    • Current CPR and First Aid Certifications

    • Desire and ability to work with children outdoors

    • Ability to accept guidance and supervision

    • Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience and self-control

    • Must be a minimum of 19 years of age

     

    SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

    1. Assist in testing and classifying swimming abilities of camp staff and campers.
    2. During camp training, work with the waterfront director to set up the waterfront.
    3. Conduct daily checks of equipment in the area for safety, cleanliness and condition.
    4. Teach and monitor proper use of equipment.
    5. Participate in weekly scheduled meetings.
    6. Perform a weekly skill training practice scheduled by Waterfront Director
    7. Guard waterfront activities as assigned by the waterfront director.
    8. Participate in all "All Camp" activities.
    9. Fill in for counselor time off.
    10. Assist in packing all materials and supplies at the end of season.
    11. Other duties as assigned / reassigned.

  • Unit Director

    Camp Zanika Lache

    Reporting to the Assistant Camp Director of counseling, Unit Directors are responsible for direct supervision of a unit, its campers, staff and program.

    Pay is $450 per week, including meals and housing. FLSA Section 13(a)(3)

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Previous camp staff experience and at least 2 years of college experience or equivalent.
    • Current CPR and First Aid required Wilderness First Aid is preferred.
    • Ability to supervise and support staff and campers.
    • Ability to creatively schedule programs, facilities, and staff
    • Good character, integrity, adaptability and enthusiasm.
    • Valid driving license and good driving record.
    • Good example for youth in appearance, attitudes, and moral and ethical behavior.
    • Must be a minimum of 20 years old.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    1. Be responsible for the welfare of each individual in the unit and do all possible to solve problems.
    2. Inform assistant camp director of any camper or staff problems.
    3. Visit cabins regularly during the day and evenings as a supervisory tool, to provide opportunity to get to know campers and staff.
    4. Must be with a cabin three nights a week, give counselors 10-15 minute breaks during the day, take cabin groups for one activity block per day, and assist with evening supervision of cabin areas as assigned.
    5. Responsible for counselors knowing proper conduct.
    6. Assist in staff training.
    7. Responsible for Zanika Znews and progression charts.
    8. Help ensure morale of staff by monitoring that staff gets enough rest, time and days off, and that recreational opportunities are available to them.
    9. Together with counselors and campers, plan and execute the evening program of unit.
    10. In the event a cabin counselor is ill or their employment is terminated, lead the activity or cabin.
    11. Responsible for restroom supervision.
    12. Observe, share and /or participate with camp quiet hour, camp kapers, camp meals, “all camp” activities, flag ceremony and other camp activities.
    13. Report any safety concerns or incidents to camp director or assistant camp director or office manager.
    14. Complete routine camp evaluations twice weekly.
    15. Other duties as assigned / reassigned.
  • Leadership Director

    Camp Zanika Lache
    up to $450.00 / week

    Reporting to the Assistant Camp Director of Counseling, the Leader and Counselor in training Director is responsible for the Direct supervision of a unit, its campers, staff and program.

    Pay is $450 per week, including meals and housing. FLSA Section 13(a)(3)

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • Previous camp staff experience and at least 2 years of college experience or equivalent.
    • Current CPR and First Aid required Wilderness First Aid is preferred.
    • Proven skill in leadership development and organizational planning especially in regards to teens
    • Ability to create multiple week lessons plans focusing on teaching teens to become leaders and future counselors
    • Good character, integrity, adaptability and enthusiasm
    • Good example for youth in appearance, attitudes, and moral and ethical behavior
    • Must be a minimum of 20 years old.


    SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

    1. Responsible for designing a Cit & Lit program
    2. Responsible for scheduling activities for CIT & Lits which will help them become better leaders
    3. Provide opportunities for CITs & Lits to both witness effective leadership and be role models themselves
    4. Teach, mentor and lead teens through training program including activity programming
    5. Making sure that there is progression through the Lit & Cit program
    6. Inform Camp Director/ Office Manager of any problems or concerns with CITs or LITs
    7. Responsible for providing information sessions for Cits/Lits to practice & Improve their skills in:
      1. Child abuse, neglect, discipline and supervision issues
      2. Communication with supervisors, staff and campers
      3. Problem-solving skill for issues faced in camp
      4. Setting up and running activities for campers
      5. Group facilitation & Group management
      6. Team building exercises
    8. Preparing a CIT & LIT handbook, including CIT/LIT job descriptions, description of program and camp policies. 
    9. Assigning Cits/Lits to work with campers who are under the age of 12, but only to work in support capacity, supervised by counselors
    10. Responsible for organizing and turning in Cit & Lit evaluations, by counselors and directors.
    11. Plan a visit to another camp so Cits can observe different styles of leadership and gain an appreciation for other camp directors' philosophies 
    12. Other duties as assigned / reassigned.
  • Archery Director

    Camp Zanika Lache
    up to $400.00 / week

    Reporting to the Assistant Camp Director of Programs, the Archery Director is responsible for teaching and coordinating the camp’s archery program and maintaining standards that lead to a quality program. 

    Pay is $400 per week, including meals and housing. FLSA Section 13(a)(3)

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • Training & experience in Archery. NAA: Level I Archery Instructor certification or equivalent training certification
    • Current CPR and First Aid (Wilderness first Aid a plus)
    • Ability to teach archery to campers of all ages.
    • Ability to set up range, order and repair equipment.
    • Desire and ability to work with children outdoors.
    • Ability to accept guidance and supervision.
    • Good character, integrity, enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, self-control, and adaptability.
    • Must be a minimum age of 19.
    • Current Driver’s License and good driving record.

    SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

    1. Set up the archery area during staff training.
    2. Check equipment daily for safety, cleanliness and good repair.
    3. Submit orders for equipment and supplies when needed, ensuring timely arrival of materials.
    4. Teach and monitor proper use of equipment.
    5. Keep records on participants' progress; help them progress from beginner to advanced levels.
    6. Conduct initial and end-of-season inventory, storing and keeping equipment in good condition. 
    7. Evaluate the current season and make suggestions for the following season.
    8. Fill in for counselor time off.
    9. Participate in weekly staff meetings.
    10. Promptly complete camp evaluations.
    11. Other duties may be assigned as needed
  • Head Cook

    Kitchen Management
    Camp Zanika Lache
    $800.00 - $800.00 / week

    Reporting to the Summer Camp Director, the Head Cook is responsible for Planning, Directing and Supervising Camp's Food Service. 

    Pay is $800 per week, includes meals and a Private Room attached to the kitchen. FLSA Section 13(a)(3)

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Training & experience in planning and cooking for large groups, and managerial experience. 
    • Ability to prepare foods for special groups (i.e., people with eating disorders, allergies, diabetes, vegetarians etc.) as needed
    • Knowledge of standards of food preparation and serving, and kitchen procedures. Operational knowledge of electrical, propane gas and mechanical equipment.
    • Desire & ability to work in a camp setting
    • Have and post current Food Handlers Card
    • Must be at least 21 years of age
    • Must be able to lift/unload/move food and supplies. Lift institutional size pots and pans to cooking and storage locations.
    • Current CPR and First Aid (Wilderness first Aid a plus).

    SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Supervise and coordinate activities of assistant cook and kitchen assistants. Supervise kitchen staff, cooking, cleanliness and scheduling of personnel.
    2. Plan menus and utilize leftovers.
    3. Supervise safe and appropriate preparation of food.
    4. Estimate needs, order, receive and store foodstuffs and supplies
    5. Cook, trim, portion, carve, bake, etc. Portion meats, vegetables, salads, breads, desserts, etc. to be served
      family style.
    6. Participate in overall camp staff training.
    7. Supervise and assist in recycling kitchen waste.
    8. Supervise record keeping, inventories and temperatures of equipment.
    9. Evaluate current season and make suggestions for following season.
    10. Other duties as assigned / reassigned
