Fly fishing in French Creek near Custer or in the northern hills offers some fantastic fishing and scenery.
Crazy Horse Monument is just north of Custer three miles and attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors each year.

Custer SD is located in the heart of the Black Hills of SD. We are a tourist-friendly area with thousands of visitors May-Oct. The Black Hills National Forest, Crazy Horse Memorial, Mt. Rushmore, Custer State Park, Jewel and Wind Caves, all close by! Visitors enjoy our area and spend on average 3-4 days roaming the Black Hills. We see many repeat customers over the course of their stay in Custer.

We are looking for full-time team members to work at our restaurants in Custer SD. We are looking for folks who love restaurants and is passionate about service and craft beer!  New this year is Mt. Rushmore Brewing Company - a full-service restaurant featuring a 10 bbl brewhouse and fermentors.  We have a great outside area for guests to bring their dogs while enjoying a fresh craft beer made on premises and inside we have two stories of beer and fun!

Our team really enjoys their jobs - no matter if they're waiting on tables, cooking up the latest craft brew inspired food or washing dishes. We all pitch in when needed and work with each other.  We are a family business and we know that our employees are part of our family!

Ideal Candidate

Foodies, Beer Geeks, Craft Beer Nerds, Outdoor Enthusiasts - NEED to APPLY!  Be prepared to put a little muscle into heaving a sack of grain from one place to another, you'll need to know how to clean out a keg, too (we're only kidding unless you really want too!) Share your love of craft beer with customers yearning to learn more. Our local brewery, Mt. Rushmore Brewing Co. offers many jobs, (including keg cleaner!) but the most important job is for you! Be it a Server, Cook or Bartender, bring a great attitude with a great work ethic.  "We hire for attitude over aptitude."  Beer server (Cicerone) training provided with your job at any of our locations including the Buglin' Bull Restaurant and Sports Bar, Begging Burro Mexican Bistro and Mt. Rushmore Brewing Co.

Room and Board

We own and operate our own housing with different room configurations available.  Shared dorm rooms with their own bathroom and kitchenette include all bedding, dishes, refrigerator, tv, microwave, furniture and utilities including, cable tv, internet, and wifi.

Some housing is also available for couples wishing to share a room.  There are campgrounds offering long-term summer spots with two campgrounds located just one block from our restaurants and three more just outside of town.

Our housing price is $10 per day per employee, with $100 deposit and first two weeks rent ($240) paid up front.  Housing cost shall be deducted from payroll every two weeks at $140 per pay period. 

All employees are entitled to half-priced meals before or after their shift.

Sagacious Inc. is a member of Black Hills Badlands and Lakes which provides tourism industry employees a VIP Card to visit local tourism businesses for free or at a reduced price. They are a special invitation to front-line employees to take an enjoyable and educational "Great American Road Trip" to learn about everything the Badlands and the Black Hills have to offer! They are a way to acquaint travel industry employees with our many tourism businesses, as well as the various towns and roads in our region. Getting Here and Getting Around

The majority of our employees are here on a seasonal basis and most of them fly into Rapid City and we shuttle them to Custer.  Some also drive they're own vehicles and park in our housing area parking. Once you're in Custer, it's a short five-minute or less walk or bike ride to work.  There is also a shuttle available to take employees to Rapid City and area attractions.

Many of our employees return year after year and leave their bikes with us during the offseason. And many will also share their bike with fellow workers.  We also have the Mickelson Trial adjacent to both of our Housing Units.  The Mick Trail is a 110-mile graded trail that spans the entire Black Hills and affords easy bike access to Crazy Horse (3 miles) or Bismarck and Stocklade Lakes (3 miles). Or if you're really ambitious Hill City is 14 miles north and Deadwood 45 miles north!  Each year Custer hosts the Mickelson Trail Bicycling Trek which traverses the entire length of the trail over a three day period.
