    Brooks Lodge

  • F&B - Bartender

    Brooks Lodge

    Brooks Lodge operates under a Concessions Contract with the National Park Service and is the busiest of the three lodges. The lodging capacity at Brooks is for 64 guests. In addition, there is a campground for 60 people nearby and Brooks is also a popular fly-in destination for day trips that include fishing and bear viewing.

    Bartender: Serves beverages during afternoon and evening hours at the lodge. Responsible for stocking and maintaining control of the bar area and assuring that all State of Alaska beverage dispensary laws are being followed. Must be able to operate a cash register, is responsible for cash accountability, and must have a site-specific TAP card. Other duties include cleaning the bar and lounge area at closing. Ability to lift 50 lbs.

  • F&B - Chef / Kitchen Manager

    Brooks Lodge operates under a Concessions Contract with the National Park Service and is the busiest of the three lodges. The lodging capacity at Brooks is for 64 guests. In addition, there is a campground for 60 people nearby and Brooks is also a popular fly-in destination for day trips that include fishing and bear viewing.

    Chef / Kitchen Manager: Oversees all kitchen operations including supervising and participating in all food preparation, supervising kitchen staff, food ordering, proper food storage and rotation, inventory, quality control, schedules, special diet requests, kitchen cleanliness, and adherence to U.S. Public Health Service Standards.

    Must have a current ServSafe manager certification and HACCP. Three years of kitchen supervisory experience in a restaurant operation that includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Preparation for 350 to 500 covers per day incorporating a family-style buffet menu.

  • F&B - Cook

    Brooks Lodge

    Brooks Lodge operates a Concession contract with the National Park Service where we provide all guest services within the Brooks area. Including lodging, tours, and meals.

    As a Cook, you shall be responsible for the execution of the menu in a timely and efficient manner based on daily guest numbers and needs. Along with being the primary cook for a meal service, you shall also be prepared to assist in other areas of food preparation for the lodge, stocking, cleaning, and other tasks as assigned by our head chef.

    Prior cooking experience and knowledge of a wide array of kitchen equipment and tools are expected.

       - Lodge Season: May 20th - September 25th.

       - Expected Work Week: 6 days per week. 9 hours per day up to 12 hours on occasion.

       - Food and Housing provided at no cost

       - Pay: $14.00 - $15.00 per hour + Overtime + Tips

  • Guest Relations - Camp Assistant

    Camp Assistant: This person is often the first contact for the lodge guests and therefore must have excellent customer service skills. Duties include loading/unloading guest luggage and cargo from aircraft, lodge and public bathhouse cleaning and camp refuse duties. Must be 21 years old with good driving record. Must be able to obtain a Class B or C Commercial Drivers License. Ability to lift 60 lbs.

  • Guest Relations - Front Desk

    Front Desk: Responsible for front desk operation and daily check-in/check-out of lodge guests and reconciliation of guest charges. Good customer service skills are a must. Familiarization with all aspects of the lodge operation will be required as well as ten key, extensive cash handling, credit cards, and operation of cash register.

    Head Maintenance: Requires well-rounded background to include vehicle, electrical, outboard motor and all levels of building maintenance experience. Carpentry, plumbing and welding skills also strongly recommended. Should be HAZWOPER certified and willing to obtain a Class C Commercial Drivers License. Ability to lift 50 lbs.

    Housekeeper / Food Service: 

    Looking for energetic, customer-oriented individuals to join our team at Brooks Lodge!

    Brooks Lodge is located in the heart of Katmai National Park on the Brooks River! At Brooks, we carry an operating staff of twenty-six individuals in combination with the multitude of Bears, Eagles, and fish all with the purpose of providing our guests with an extraordinary experience.  

    As a member of our Housekeeping / Food Service team, you would be responsible for the daily cleaning and turnover of guests' rooms as well as being a part of our three meal services. This can include but not limited to running food, bussing tables, operating the cash register, and communicating with guests daily meal offerings. 

    • Food and Housing provided at no cost
    • The standard workweek is 6 days while working approximately 9 hours per day.
    • Pay issued every two weeks, standard overtime applies, tips pooled amongst staff.

  • Sport Fishing Guide

    Brooks Lodge operates a concession contract with the National Park Service inside of Katmai National Park. The lodge holds up to 64 guests seeing day and multi day traffic from all over the world.

    We are seeking a motivated, skilled, high energy, people-oriented individual for a diverse operation that specializes in fishing and eco-tourism based adventures.

    We offer a diverse fishing program that covers everything from fly fishing fishing the Brooks River(where the lodge is located) for trophy sized Rainbow Trout, fishing lakes for Pike, hiking small streams for large Trout and Char, and trolling for trophy Rainbows and Lake Trout.

    Fishing Guide:

    Extensive fishing experience required. Must be versed in all phases of freshwater fishing including fly fishing, fly tying, trolling, spin fishing. Must have limited OUPV license for Freshwaters and Rivers of Western Alaska or other USCG License. Basic boat maintenance experience a plus but not required. We would like, but do not expect you to be a master in all fishing aspects. We just expect a willingness to learn and adapt to a diverse program in order to please your guests making the lodge and yourself successful. Must be able to stand all day and lift 60lbs.

    Bus Drivers: Must be at least 21 years of age and possess a current Class B Commercial Driver’s License with passenger endorsement. Responsibilities include the operation of a 28 passenger tour bus and the successful applicant needs to eventually gain a well rounded knowledge of all aspects of Katmai National Park including wildlife,vegetation and geology. Ability to lift and carry 50lbs.

    Grosvenor Lodge

    Approximate Season Dates Mid to Late May - October 1

    Grosvenor is a small boutique fishing lodge which hosts a maximum of 6 guests at a time and operates under a Concession contract with the National Park Service. The principal program at Grosvenor is sportfishing and the entire operation is run by three employees. Employees must be able to handle working in a remote setting and have excellent customer service skills.

    Chef/Lodge Keeper: As a Chef/Cook you shall be responsible for the execution of the menu in a timely and efficient manner based on in house guest numbers and needs. You shall be responsible for cooking breakfast, lunch, and dinner 7 days per week. During each meal service you shall be the primary face and customer service point for the guests.

    Beyond cooking you shall oversee all kitchen operations, including ordering, inventory, quality control, special diet requests, and adherence to U.S. Public Health Service Standards. Must have or be able to obtain a current ServSafe Manager Certification. Must obtain a TAP (Alaska alcohol training) card, be certified in CPR,1st Aid, and AED. Prior professional culinary experience required a minimum of 2 years. Other duties include but are not limited to daily cleaning of guests' cabins, dishes, and lodge laundry while anglers are out fishing for the day.  Wait tables during meal hours and bus tables. Physically fit and able to lift 50 lbs.

       - Prior cooking experience and knowledge of wide array of kitchen equipment and tools expected.

       - Expected Work Week: 7 days per week: breakfast - dinner.

       - Pay: approximately $5,000 per month + Tips (pooled amongst staff)

    Live and work in King Salmon, Alaska! 

    Want to work around float planes?! We seek motivated, self starting individuals to join our team working at our float plane base in King Salmon. King Salmon is the starting point to almost all activities inside Katmai National Park and the starting point to all our guests journeys.

    Job duties will include but are not limited to: Loading and offloading airplanes with luggage and freight, helping guests board planes, fueling airplanes, cleaning building, and running refuse. 

    - Pay depends on experience. Expected work week is 6 or 7 days per week. Standard overtime applies.

  • King Salmon Float Plane Base Manager

    Katmai Air provides air transportation and support for our three lodges located in Katmai National Park Alaska and primarily operates floatplanes. We have an opening for an experienced candidate to manage our new Katmai Air King Salmon floatplane facility. This Position will manage our front-line staff who assist our lodge and Bear viewing guests en-route to Brooks Lodge and Brooks Falls. This position is seasonal - from on or about May 1st through October 1st and will be based in King Salmon (Housing is provided along with meals)

    The ideal candidate will be well-versed in general business matters, will lead and supervise the work of 6-8 employees, and have a track record of safe operations around aircraft.  The candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safety of all embarking and disembarking guests as well as employees who are turning incoming and outgoing aircraft at our dock.

    Candidate  Must have:

    • At least 1-3 seasons  working in or managing a flight operation facility,
    • A past good record of managing / delegating and scheduling staff hours
    • A positive and flexible attitude
    • Good customer service skills and is experienced in managing the large group departures
    • Excellent organizational skills
    • A clean and professional appearance   
    • Computer skills including knowledge of MS office programs and have experience with customer reservation systems
    • Ability to lift 60 lbs repetitively

    Skills beneficial but not required

    • Aviation /pilot experience
    • Familiarity with Aviation weather a plus.
    • General knowledge of vehicle and building maintenance
    • General knowledge of mechanical, carpentry, plumbing, and electrical.  

    Certifications: Must be able to obtain a Class B Commercial Driver’s License with passenger and tanker hazmat endorsements.

Responsible for front desk operation and daily check-in/check-out of lodge guests, customer service, cash handling, credit cards, ten-key and typing 40wpm. Minor retail experience is a plus. Ability to lift 40 lbs.

Extensive boat handling skills and basic maintenance experience also required. Must have an ROUPV license with Kvichak, Alagnak, and Nushagak River endorsements, USCG License for the Freshwaters and Rivers of Western Alaska or other qualified USCG License. Other duties as assigned. Ability to lift and carry 60 lbs.
