Students learn how to cook over fire. Preparing a delicious and nutritious meal is a valuable life skill they can learn.
We practice a nomadic model, moving camp every 1-2 days. Our students spend their entire stay in the back-country.

Blue Ridge Therapeutic Wilderness's licensed treatment program provides clinical treatment in an immersive nomadic wilderness setting. We combine the natural environment with evidence-based therapeutic approaches that teach teens and young adults, and their families back home, the tools needed to act on their values, rediscover their self-belief, and explore healthy living and communication.

Our main office is in Clayton, GA, in the southern Appalachian Mountains. Our field areas are located in the Chattahoochee (GA) and Nantahala National Forests (NC). We are surrounded by mountain ranges, waterfalls, and towering trees. Appalachia is considered to be a temperate rainforest, which means plenty of rain and high biodiversity!
