Black Mountain Ranch is a guest ranch where guest check in on Sunday afternoon and depart Saturday morning. You can get a feel for the place on our website www.blackmtnranch.com. We have around 40 guests and 30 employees each week and feed them all. 

The ideal candidate for this seasonal job, mid-May through mid-September is someone who is a traveler, has another career in the winter or maybe a ski or beach bum.

Our chef Bob Yancy has been with us for nearly 20 years and is ready to retire so we would really like to hire someone who can step into his shoes.

This is what Bob wrote up for the Sous Chef position:

  • Preparing meals and food to meet the specifications of executive chef in a timely manner. 
  • Ensuring kitchen staff adhere to set standards procedures department rules and sanitation requirements.
  • Knowledge of using knives, grills, fryers, ovens,  steamers and food warmers. 
  • Managing the kitchen inventory and assuring supplies are fresh and of high quality.
  • Ensuring proper food temperatures when cooking and proper storage afterwards.
  • Keeping workstations and all kitchen and storage areas clean and sanitized.
  • Taking charge of the kitchen when Executive chef is off.
  • Having strong communication skills.
  • Good knowledge of grilling outside for dinner rides and lunch cookouts.
  • Assisting Executive chef with all areas of kitchen.

  • $20hr, 40 hours a week
  • 2022 bonus average $5.20hr
