We need an experienced/semi-experienced sled dog musher/handler for our winter season. We would like to introduce you to our 12 best friends. Our team is a recreational sled dog team, and all friendly, who need to meet their newest best friend that will guide them and our guests safely through the trails around Bettles & Evansville this winter.
We offer 1 & 2 hour sled dog rides for our guests that come from all over the world to view the Aurora here in Bettles, which can be argued as one of the best, if not THE BEST Aurora viewing spot on the planet.
You will be working outside, in sub-0 temperatures all winter with our dogs. "Sweeping" the dog yard, trimming toenails, adjusting dog food amounts as needed and generally being a one-person show for our small dog yard.
We have a very small crew here and everyone must work together. You can expect to help other employees and you can expect them to help you with the dogs. You must be flexible and willing to adapt to the situation on the fly, as that is the definition of life in the Arctic!
Guest safety & your safety & dog safety are all top priorities. We are making lifetime memories for our Guests. You will be mentioned in TripAdvisor posts, and make connections that may last a lifetime, but the work is hard, cold & dark for a good chunk of the winter.
Three meals/day & sleeping room is included as part of your employment package. Tips are split equally among all employees. You can expect to work 40 - 60 hours per week.
Snowmachine experience is a plus as we have snow machines that we offer our guests guided tours on.
No smoking, no pets.
