Bettles Lodge has been in operation for over 65 years.  We are located 160 Air-Miles, North/North West of Fairbanks Alaska, in a tiny, fly-in-only village near the Koyukuk River.  There are only about 40 people full-time residents in Bettles in the summer.  We have visitors from all world visit Bettles to experience the beauty of the Arctic.

We will provide your room and food while you work at our Lodge.  Pay is $10 per hour and overtime paid at $15 per hour for any hours over 8 per day and 40 hours per week.  There is also an end of season bonus upon completion of the season.  The summer season ends on September 30, 2018.  The hours can be long and hard, but its really about the location, and being able to personally contact each and every one of our guests at the Lodge, and be a part of the many other peoples' lives that come through our tiny community during the very busy Summer Season. Tips are split equally between our 8 (including you) employees.  Teamwork and getting along with all other employees is essential in this small business and community.   While everyone has a primary job function, you must be willing to do any job including housekeeping, fueling, answering the phone occasionally and customer relations.

Housing is rustic, and some of the sleeping rooms do not have plumbing.  It is a short walk for showers, laundry, and bathroom.  There is no cell phone service and very limited internet service.

If you cannot disconnect from the electronic world, this job is NOT for you.

As the chef/cook, you must be inventive, keep a clean and organized kitchen, be a one-person show including prep, meal design, and clean-up/dishes.  You must capable of working without supervision, have great culinary skills, be very waste minded as all our supplies cost about $1 per pound to get flown up from Fairbanks on the small airlines that service the village.  You must be able to "stay ahead of the curve" and be prepared for the upcoming Guest load + walk-ins. We need someone to cook great food, keep an upbeat attitude, and be part of our family.

While you will have to work hard, we try to make sure our employees have an awesome summer including opportunities for flight-seeing and other outdoor activities.
