The Employee Experience
A Job with Altitude... and Free Donuts!!!
Working on the mountain is truly one of the most special experiences ever! Many guests are in awe of how you make it to your spot on the mountain every day. One of your most frequently asked questions from guests is, "How do you get up here?" The elevation of 14,115 feet is certainly jaw-dropping. They will relish your stories of getting up and down, working in different capacities including food service, retail, custodial, and emergency medical technicians (EMTs).
The simple answer to the above? We transport you and all of our team up the mountain which takes about 60 to 75 minutes up a 19-mile road. All employees will be paid for transportation time.
After working a season on Pikes Peak, many of our employees return the following season as the experience is truly unforgettable.
Hours Expectations: Many of our roles are year-round positions with a fluctuation in hours. In the "off-season" of November through April you can expect to work around 30 hours a week. However, once peak season kicks off in May you will be working 40 hours a week with overtime available from time to time. Schedules are typically 3 to 4 days a week, with additional scheduled days if available!
The ideal candidate is one that enjoys working with others and can work in a team environment with a high volume of guests. Your customer service skills and ability to make our guests feel at home on this mountain is of the utmost importance. You must be a self-starter and enjoy keeping busy. You must also possess excellent communication skills and be willing to go above and beyond to make all our guests feel comfortable.
Additionally, the ideal candidate is one with flexibility, able to work long hours and comfortable working all day at 14,115 feet elevation.
Room and Board
We do not provide room and board. The cities of Colorado Springs and Woodland Park Colorado are very close to the mountain. There are various facilities such as campgrounds for RV parking within 10 miles from the entrance of Pikes Peak. In Colorado Springs (a pickup point located between Manitou Springs and Old Colorado City) there are several apartment buildings or locations for rent. Our employees receive one free meal for each daily shift they work, plus our world-famous donuts will not disappoint!
- One free meal when working a <10 hour shift and a second free meal when working +10 hour shift
- Employees receive 40% off all retail merchandise and 50% off all food beyond your meals while on shift
- Paid transportation time up and down the mountain on our Employee Shuttle
- Free entry to Pikes Peak on your days off
- An adventure lover's dream!
- During the summer months, our facility is open and free to employees if they want to hike, bike, fish, or do some pedal boating at Crystal Reservoir, which is also one of our stores.
Getting Here and Getting Around
Colorado Springs is a very bike-friendly city and public transportation has a drop-off point exactly where our employee van picks employees up. Therefore, there is no definite need for a car, but there is ample parking available if you do have a vehicle. Colorado Springs also has an airport served by most major airlines.
You can expect a fun-filled adventure living and working in this area. You will have the opportunity to hike, bike, climb, raft, canoe, ride, photograph, stargaze, bird watch, dance, and attend music festivals – only to name a few of the activities that will be available to you during your time at Pikes Peak
