Among other duties, the MWI Groomer is responsible for maintaining ski trails, signage, plowing and sanding roadways and maintaining access points. To achieve the desired winter grooming results, the Seasonal Groomer works closely with the Operations Manager and Regional Lodging Manager to determine the daily duties to care and upkeep AMC’s extensive cross-country ski trails. 

What you’ll be doing:  

  • Maintain and perform pre-season maintenance on winter ski trails and signage. 
  • Safely and effectively operate various types of snow grooming equipment i.e., snowmobiles, snow grooming drags, Nordic style groomers, tractors, Pistenbully.
  • Operate snow removal equipment i.e., plow trucks, sanders, front end loader, tractor, snow pushers.
  • Safely work independently in remote areas after dark grooming ski trails.
  • Support land management work as directed by the Operations Manager, including road maintenance, BMP (Best Management Practices) compliance and forestry activities as needed.
  • Perform equipment maintenance as needed, maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
  • Provide friendly and attentive professional guest services.
  • Provide safe transportation of guests, luggage and cargo to and from facilities, via company vehicle, as necessary.
  • Provides periodic backup support to facility, trails and education staff as requested by the Operations Manager.
  • Implement energy conservation and environmentally sound practices in daily operations.
  • Provide information to visitors and guests about the AMC, local natural and cultural history, risk management, outdoor recreation opportunities and AMC land management practices.
  • Reporting daily to Operations Manager for daily/weekly work schedule

Compensation and benefits: 

  • Salary Range: $16.00/hour
  • FREE room & board on-site at your assigned Wilderness Lodge
  • Free use of AMC Destinations: 4 nights per year
  • Free annual AMC membership
  • Health Plan + Optional Vision + Dental Insurance (eligible if you are working 30+ hours per week for 6+ months)   
  • Matching 403(b): 4% with vesting schedule
  • Paid Sick Time: eligible to accrue up to 10 days
