The Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC) seeks an Overnight Front Desk Attendant for the Highland Center Lodge in Crawford Notch.  The Overnight Front Desk Attendant is responsible for emergency management during shifts, addressing guest needs, late check ins and completing various administrative tasks throughout their shift.  A successful Overnight Front Desk Attendant has strong customer service skills, can work independently and is reliable.  Shifts generally start at 10pm and run to 6am.  This can be a full time or part time position.

The Highland Center in Crawford Notch is a 34 room lodge located in the heart of the White Mountains.  The lodge provides overnight accommodations for up to 122 people with a full service kitchen supplying meals in a family style or buffet setting.  Highland serves a wide variety of guests but focuses on folks interested in the outdoors with multiple hiking trailheads leaving from the property, groomed ski trails leaving from the main entrance and a long history of nature based painting in the notch. 

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Safely respond to alarm, medical, weather, illegal activity, or other emergencies while providing security for our guests, visitors, and employees.  
  • Welcome, check-in, and assist late-arriving overnight guests.      
  • Generate reports and check-in information for the coming day.  
  • Perform daily weather observation.
  • Perform custodial duties. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.  

Qualifications 

  • Proven ability to successfully accomplish multiple tasks without direct supervision, required. 
  • Aptitude for making quick, yet well-thought-out, decisions regarding customer service standards, internal procedures and potential emergencies, required. 
  • Must have reliable transportation unless living onsite 
  • Physical Abilities required: ability to stand for up to 8 hours, bend at waist, carry up to 30 pounds, lift up to 20 pounds from floor level to waist level. 
  • Prior customer service experience, preferred. 
  • Familiarity with the White Mountain National Forest, preferred.  
  • Enthusiasm for AMC programs and mission, preferred.  
  • CPR certification, desirable.
