American Sailing Tours is growing! SUMMER WIND, the Small Tall Ship, is a small Staysail Junk-rigged schooner doing public tours and private charters in Baltimore. UNFORGETTABLE, a Ted Brewer design, is our newest boat. Seeking a Deckhand for the 2023 sailing season in Baltimore from April through October. Prior sailing experience is preferred but not required. A strong passion for customer service is a must.  

We do 90-minute public sails and private charters in Baltimore Harbor and the Chesapeake Bay. We do as many as five public sails five days per week. History sails, harbor sails, evening sails, sunset sails, and moonlight sails offer lots of choices for guests.

The Deckhand is responsible for ship maintenance, cleaning and preparing the ship for passengers, line handling for docking, setting, dousing and trimming sails and interaction with passengers during tours and charters.  This is a great opportunity for anyone looking to rack up some real sea time and experience for their own future license.  We teach everything.

Proof of Covid vaccination is required. Enrollment in Coast Guard-mandated random drug testing program is required. We cover all costs. This is a live-aboard position, meals not included. Deckhand has the forward cabin. Captain has the aft cabin.
