We are seeking folks interested in joining a professional and fun-loving community of people who work hard, play hard, and do it All-Outdoors. While we, AO staff members, hail from different disciplines and decades, and enjoy a diverse range of passions, we all share the love of one thing: getting on the river with our favorite people. You can see it in the commercial trips we run on the clock, and the guide trips we take in our off-time. There have been over 30 marriages within the AO clan, and we have multiple second and third generations joining the team … Why? Birds of a feather flock together.

- Actively participate on the AO Operations Team; Assist managers and other co-workers in building and maintaining a positive and productive work environment in which running trips to the standards of quality and safety as set by AO policy is paramount.
- Establish and grow a thorough understanding of AO philosophy toward trip quality and guest experience; Work to provide the best possible guest experience.
- Learn and stay current on AO policies and best practices both on and off river, including logistics, care of equipment, vehicles, facilities, and paperwork.
- Perform with care and professionalism all the duties associated with the role of river guide; be a steward of nature, learn and grow your interpretive skills, and adhere to the Leave No Trace principle.
- Learn and develop methods to respond to guest concerns or issues, according to AO policy and best practices.
- Be a positive role model and represent AO on the river and in the communities in which we operate.
- Other duties as assigned.

Full-time and part-time shuttle driver work is available. All work is dependent on the varying river conditions and the status of the California rafting season which usually starts in April and can run into late October, with weekends being the busiest and most consistent. Full-time shuttle driver work typically begins on Memorial Day weekend and lasts through at least Labor Day weekend but on a good water year it will last until early October.
Most drivers will typically work on one of the following AO river operations: the South Fork Operation based in Lotus, CA; the Middle Fork Operation based in Foresthill, CA; or the Tuolumne Operation based in Groveland CA.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work with a diverse group of people.
- Strong work ethic and punctuality.
- Positive attitude with problem solving skills and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to work weekends.
- Ability to get to and from workplace locations.
- CA Commercial Driver’s License with passenger endorsement, preferably able to drive busses with air brakes, and a manual transmission.

Hours and Compensation- Scheduled work is subject to bookings.
- Drivers may be scheduled on-call to accommodate last minute changes in bookings.
- Pay is determined by the amount of shuttles driven, experience, and additional pay for certifications as detailed in the pay schedule.
- Pay increases are considered on an annual basis
- Friends and Family discount is available to all full-time AO employees.
- Opportunities to raft on various rivers throughout CA.
- Employee housing/camping is available on most of our operations for $100/month. We cannot accommodate dogs or other pets.

This position can be full-time, part-time, or seasonal. Employees work in our main office in Lotus, CA.

- Actively participate on the AO Sales Team; Assist team leaders and teammates in building a successful sales team in a positive and productive work environment.
- Establish and grow a thorough understanding of AO products and services; be able to provide quality recommendations for the best possible guest experience.
- Learn and stay current on AO policies and best practices.
- Communicate with guests via phone, LiveChat, or email professionally, in order to convert an inquiry to a sale.
- Accurately and appropriately use reservation software to track leads and manage reservation activity. Maintain and record sales activity accurately, and report on key performance indicators as identified during onboarding.
- Learn and develop methods to respond to guest concerns or issues, according to AO policy and best practices.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements- Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work with a diverse group of people; Ability to build genuine, authentic connections with guests and co-workers.
- Ability to work evenings and/or weekends during the season, May - Sept.
- Appreciation of the outdoors / A deep love of the outdoors and nature.
- Ability to raft some of the rivers AO runs as part of training (and as a fun perk!)
Additional duties and responsibilities eligible for increased compensation
- Participate on the Content Creation team.
- Participate on the Social Media team.
- Create written content and messaging for use across various media and/or publications.
- Assume an area of responsibility such as inventory management, sales training, outreach team lead, weekend manager-on-duty, administrative assistant, graphic design, etc.
- Alternative duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Desired skills and experience eligible for increased compensation
- Experience in sales, preferably by phone.
- Experience creating written content, preferably for marketing purposes and websites.
- Experience using various social media platforms for marketing purposes.
- Technical and computer skills such as knowledge of HTML, graphic design software, database software or reporting software, data analysis.
- Other skills or experience relevant to the job but not named herein.

For each qualified applicant, there is a phone interview with the hiring team at All-Outdoors. This is a time where applicants establish communication with AO, meet some of the staff, and ask any questions they might have. By the end of this initial conversation, applicants will be able to confirm they are still interested in a job at All-Outdoors and have a desire to continue to the next step of the process. Following this call, references will be reviewed. The process concludes with a final interview either in person or over video call in which a more refined job offer will be presented.
