Linen Attendant

The linen attendant is responsible for assuring an adequate quantity of linen is maintained in the Linen Storage in Sitka and Juneau as well as on board the vessels by restocking and delivering clean linen to all parts of the organization.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Unloading of clean linen into shelves in clean linen room
  • Matches counts of items received to items sent on invoice
  • Restocks and delivers clean linen to the vessels after receiving linen orders from the vessels
  • Keeps the Sitka Main Linen Room in clean and orderly condition
  • Restocks linen periodically at the Juneau facility
  • Occasionally required to wash, dry and sort linen in a Self-Service Laundry facility in Juneau
  • Conduct a full count of linen after the season
  • Store clean linen after the end of the season in Vacuum sealed bags

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be able to communicate in English
  • Must be able to follow oral and written instructions and have good communication skills
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred
  • Must be able to perform simple mathematics

Desired Qualifications:

  • Proven team player and have a Can-Do attitude.
  • Hotel cleaning/linen procedures experience preferred, but not required
  • Organized, even tempered.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and guest service aptitude.
  • Ability to take directions, work independently and work with a diverse team.
  • Ability to interpret and follow rules, policy, and procedures.
  • Ability to maintain composure with courteous and professional demeanor.
  • Must be neat, clean while on duty

    Must be physically able to work a typical workday of about 10-14 hours per day, seven days a week.  Environmental conditions generally include ambient inside temperature, ambient inside lighting, ambient to loud noise levels, all weather conditions, occasional use of required protective clothing including raingear and life preserver. Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Physically able to climb a 7-foot vertical ladder and ability to work standing for six hours plus per day.
