  • Shuttle Driver

    Safari and Basecamp
    Kenai Riverside Lodge (KRL), Alaska
    unknown / hour + tips

    To assist in driving shuttles on a daily basis to Anchorage, boat launch sites, and other miscellaneous errands. CDL shuttle drivers also play a crucial role in helping to accomplish the day to day tasks and maintenance required at basecamp.

    GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

    1. Cheerful and enthusiastic attitude during long days in a sometimes cramped workspace.

    2. Possess the ability to work within a team structure and in a flexible manner to accomplish a variety of tasks including: food preparation, packing, housekeeping, light maintenance and guest service.

    3. Independently loading heavy and awkward items like luggage, coolers or boxes weighing 50 lbs. or more and safely participating in group lifts of rafts and motors that can weigh more than 400 lbs. are regular and essential duties of this position.

    4. Ability to routinely drive large vehicles with trailers.

    5. Ability to live and work in a communal, camp-like atmosphere.

    RESPONSIBILITIES and REQUIREMENTS

    1. High quality guest service standards.

    2. CDL driver’s license (AWA will assist with obtaining).

    3. Complying with all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations as they apply to a professional driver and DOT paperwork as necessary.

    4. Participation in drug screening program.

    5. History interpretation as appropriate.

    6. Partial time spent working remotely as Alaska Adventure trips require.

    7. Responsible for care, maintenance, and preparation of vehicles.

    8. Guest service, including: luggage handling, general orientation of guests, airport pick-ups, shuttles, etc.

    9. Participate in company practices and policies to conserve natural resources, reduce landfill-bound waste, reduce or eliminate the use of environmentally, harmful substances and products and work to help improve AWA’s environmental impact.

    10. Flexibility and diversity. Employee’s duties and assignments may be modified and altered incidental to Employees principal duties to allow for smooth operation of the business and maximum employment opportunities for the Employee.

    CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

    1. CPR and First Aid

  • Hospitality Staffer

    Hospitality
    Kenai Fjords Glacier Lodge (KFGL), Alaska, Kenai Riverside Lodge (KRL), Alaska, and Skilak Lake (KBL), Alaska

    This position is responsible for a variety of day-to-day guest services and will support all other hospitality positions. This includes cabin cleaning, dinner service, bartending, kitchen assistant, and the cleaning of the main lodge and other common areas. Must be organized, personable, and have a great attitude and teamwork ethic. 

    Essential Requirements for Hospitality Positions:

  • Office Assistant- Seward

    Weather Permitting

    The Office Coordinator will assist the Kenai Fjords Glacier Lodge in sales, guest check-ins, transportation and assistance for the Weather Permitting water taxi business. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to taking phone reservations  for Water Taxi and 72 hour special KFGL bookings as well as answering basic questions about Water Taxi and KFGL.

    KFGL SUPPORT:

    • Meet and greet guests; they will check in at office. Label luggage with tags with cabin number; shuttle them and luggage to boat as needed.
    • Greet boat on return; receive backhaul and sort/transport it to appropriate facility (garbage to dumpster, recycling, etc.)
    • Check in food and supplies, sometimes re-pack for boats
    • Help load boats.
    • Other chores as needed: filling propane tanks
    • Help make arrangements for guests in case of weather delays, including possible guiding of Seward adventure.
    • Serve as Deck Hand from time to time
    • Help clean boats from time to time (this is generally contracted) 

    Job Requirements/Qualifications:

    • Familiarity with AWA programs or similar experience in ecotourism, and Alaska experience preferred.

    • Excellent organizational skills, detail orientated, self-motivation, and self-management

    • Communication skills with both guests and employees, excellent at customer service

    • Housing and food not provided, so ideally already a Seward resident

    • Competent with computers (familiarity with WordPerfect, Microsoft Word, Google Docs, Google Calendar, e-mail, and Excel programs).

    • Have the ability to lift heavy loads (up to 50 pounds).

  • Trip Packer

    Hospitality
    Kenai Riverside Lodge (KRL), Alaska

    Prepares and packs travel meals food for all Alaska Wildland Adventure trips, including lunches for all AWA guests. The trip packer is also responsible for providing the employee kitchen with sandwich meats, cheeses, spreads, and other essential lunch fixings. Must be organized and detail oriented.

    This position will work alongside the Lead Dinner Chef in preparing and presenting 2 family-style, 4 course meals each night. They will also support the chef in preparing staff dinner and weekly salmon bake lunches for special groups. Must have experience in food preparation and sanitation procedures. Great teamwork ethic required.
