Hiring 2023 Seasonal Trip Drivers at Alaska Wildland Adventures!
Travel from the Coast to Denali as a Trip Driver to live and work on the Kenai River, Seward, Talkeetna, and Denali! Our Trip Drivers stay in a variety of locations and are able to learn our logistics for future Multi-Day Guide careers.

JOB OBJECTIVE: Responsible for transporting our Alaska Adventure Trips’ guests to and from various lodges and activities throughout the state. Drivers work closely with trip leaders to provide various guest services including luggage handling, general orientation of guests, natural history interpretation as needed, airport pick-ups, shuttles, etc. This position is based out of the Kenai Riverside Lodge, and employees must be willing to provide lodge support such as driving raft shuttles, running town errands, and performing camp chores (e.g. yard work) as parts of their job.
COMPENSATION: This position pays $18.00/hour and offers free food and housing. For meals, staff can expect to have a stocked kitchen and pantry to prepare breakfast and lunches and dinner is chef prepared and served daily.
SCHEDULING: This position is regularly scheduled for 40 hour work weeks. This position assists in our multi-day Adventures and is scheduled according to the itineraries the driver will be supporting. Overtime is expected to be 0-12 hours of overtime biweekly and is paid at 1.5x the regular hourly rate.
LOCATION: This position is often transient on the road, overnighting in Anchorage, Seward, Talkeetna and Denali. However, it is primarily based out of the Kenai Riverside Lodge, on the Kenai River, Cooper Landing, Alaska. Staff members will fly (if not driving) into Ted Stevens Airport in Anchorage, Alaska where an Alaska Wildland Adventures’ manager or team member will provide transportation to the lodge. We also provide transportation back to the airport at the end of the season.
OUR SEASON: We ask applicants to be available for our entire operation season, from mid-May to mid-September. For CDL training, we ask applicants to be available late April/early May.
THIS ROLE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR:
- Complying with DOT drug testing policies
- Carrying a valid drivers license
- Over 21 years of age
- High-quality guest service standards.
- Safely operating commercial motor vehicles.
- Participation in a drug screening program.
- Natural History interpretation as appropriate.
- Partial time spent working remotely as Alaska Adventure trips require.
- Responsible for the care, maintenance, and preparation of vehicles.
- Guest service, including luggage handling, the general orientation of guests, airport pick-ups, shuttles, etc.
- Basecamp support. River (rafting or fishing) shuttles, hike shuttles, shopping and errands, landscaping, camp projects, and general labor.
- Participate in company practices and policies to conserve natural resources, reduce landfill-bound waste, reduce or eliminate the use of environmentally, harmful substances and products and work to help improve AWA’s environmental impact.
- Flexibility and diversity. Employee’s duties and assignments may be modified and altered incidental to Employees’ principal duties to allow for the smooth operation of the business and maximum employment opportunities for the Employee.
- Camp chores as assigned to allow for values of integration, coordination, and cross-training.
