JOB TITLE: Alaska Adventure's Driver

AVAILABILITY: April 20 - September 10

FOOD & HOUSING: Free dry cabin styled Yukon tent w/ roomate and free food with Chef prepared dinners served daily

LOCATION: Based in Cooper Landing, AK but will require travel w/ all food & accommodations paid

JOB OBJECTIVE: Responsible for transporting our Alaska Adventure Trips’ guests to and from various lodges and activities throughout the state. Drivers work closely with trip leaders to provide various guest services including luggage handling, general orientation of guests, natural history interpretation as needed, airport pick-ups, shuttles, etc. This position is based out of the Kenai Riverside Lodge, and employees must be willing to provide lodge support such as driving raft shuttles, running town errands, and performing camp chores (e.g. yard work) as parts of their job.



  1. Be able to learn a variety of itineraries, manage daily schedules with flexibility, and maintain an optimistic attitude
  2. CDL preferred, but not required. AWA will pay for training and licensure.
  3. Have valid driver’s license, and ability to go through training provide by AWA to obtain a class C commercial driver’s license with a passenger endorsement once in-state
  4. With training, be able to safely operate large motor vehicles including trailers, be responsible for care, light maintenance, and preparation of vehicles.
  5. Comply with all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations as they apply to drivers, including being able to participate in pre-employment and random drug and alcohol screening program for the duration of the season
  6. Be excited to spend multiple days “on the road” while transporting guests from lodge to lodge
  7. Independently loading heavy and awkward items like luggage, coolers or boxes weighing 50 lbs. or more and safely participating in group lifts of rafts and motors that can weigh more than 400 lbs. are regular and essential duties of this position.
  8. Ability to routinely drive large vehicles with trailers.
  9. Ability to live and work in a communal, camp-like atmosphere. 


  1. High-quality guest service standards. 
  2. Safely operating commercial motor vehicles.
  3. Participation in a drug screening program. 
  4. Natural History interpretation as appropriate.
  5. Partial time spent working remotely as Alaska Adventure trips require. 
  6. Responsible for the care, maintenance, and preparation of vehicles.
  7. Guest service, including luggage handling, the general orientation of guests, airport pick-ups, shuttles, etc.
  8. Basecamp support. River (rafting or fishing) shuttles, hike shuttles, shopping and errands, landscaping, camp projects, and general labor.
  9. Participate in company practices and policies to conserve natural resources, reduce landfill-bound waste, reduce or eliminate the use of environmentally, harmful substances and products and work to help improve AWA’s environmental impact.
  10. Flexibility and diversity. Employee’s duties and assignments may be modified and altered incidental to Employees’ principal duties to allow for the smooth operation of the business and maximum employment opportunities for the Employee.
  11. Camp chores as assigned to allow for values of integration, coordination, cross-training, employee benefits of sharing drudgery tasks, synergy, and maximum employment opportunity. You will be expected to do “dirty work” and “manual labor” from time to time.


  • CPR and First Aid 
  • ​​​​​​​Class C CDL Driver License with Passenger Endorsement (AWA will help obtain)
